Because nissan don't make oil. Whenever a car manufacturer releases a car, they have requirements and specifications for each type of oil that is needed in different parts of the car.

Nismatic D is a special form of hydraulic fluid. If you go to the castrol website and look up the r ugly poo gtr, it says to use transmax z where nissan specifies nismatic d.

It's just like why not use nissan's 7.5w30 mineral oil that they sell? That's the oil that they recommend for the skylines.

As long as something meets the spec, it's the same if not better.

there are two nipples on the system one on the pump and one down on the diff so you could still have air in the system i think i said that in my long write up so you might have missed it.

Still no closer to making A-LSD a "good" LSD, I could only find an exploded view of a Z32 300zx diff at my local, Nissan dealership. Assuming that these are primeraly the same diffs + hydraulic actuators, shimming will help, but not solve the problem, as Matty has pointed out, these are hydraulically actuatted and not mechanically. I have my car booked in at a hydrualics workshop over the weekend, I'll keep you posted on what they find.

yeah sweet sounds good, I ahd a look on nissan fast at the diff for my chassis number and thats how i gathered that it worked the way it did. hopefully shimming up the gap it will hold more pressure on the clutch discs and lock very well, I've also heard that when doing a long burnout with a properly working system after 25-30 seconds the car will stop the motor from pumping to save it from over heating and flash one of the lights the slip i think so see how she goes eh.

Oh ok, I never knew abobut the other nipple. Looks like we might have to give it a go bleeding it properly using the other nipple too, and the relay.

Hey Nismo 400, where is this relay that you're talking about?

Do you reckon you could outline a bleeding procedure for us?

if the a-lsd light comes on it means it's not working properly - of course you knew that though, thus the no burnouts. lol.

Mine works properly though, like I was telling mat. Am I the only one with a working alsd?

I'm just looking to get mine to be better. I want it to lock more, etc.

Hey guys, sorry for the long time to reply. I have found no answer to the A-LSD prob, the hydraulic guys found that most of the working parts on the diff ie solenoid are encased in the pump and pressure vessel housing so with out a full dissassembly we may never know how to cure the "VN commodore" diff prob.

I have however been lucky enough to stumble upon a genuine nismo locker + half shafts ex-plated

GTS-T....for $600!

Im not goin to waste my time with the A-LSD, from all reports they are a lazy drift or track diff anyway.

Maybe once I have the other diff I will disassemble A-LSD and play with it, seeing as though it will no longer immoblise my car.

More on that when diff arrives!

Hi all! Hoping someone can shed some light on some problems I have with my 33's diff.

I have one of the supposedly rare, A-LSD lights in my dash and a large hydraulic unit residing behind my drivers side rear quarter panel. I am told that this is an identical unit to that found in a v-spec GTR...???

As I am new to this site, could somebody tell me where I might find some info on these set ups, either here or elsewhere? My diff (in S2 R33) open-wheels without any hint of LSD operation...truely frustrating.

Any help appreciated, I have my theories but am open to better wisdom.

Thanks

yeah. save for a PROPPER lsd. there just shit. and to get them working nicly is just not posible. either slips or you got a locker.

or if you try to do a burnout at the drags it one wheels and the alsd light comes on and you have to re-start.

just soooo anoying.

    • I can ship Nismo floor mats to you: https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/nismo-floor-mats-for-skyline-r33-bcnr33-stagea-wgnc34?_pos=1&_sid=9278c1467&_ss=r
    • Here's the link: https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6642/misc/G49?frame_no=WGNC34-137122 What you think about it? The same product i found on nengun: https://www.nengun.com/oem/parts/40567/MiPwn5qAMfCfmpxHNDnwn5q9MDAx8J-QiW9sZC1qcC0xMTAtRzQ5LS0wMDE/Floor+Carpet+%2F+Mat+2/0688339eba149c19 Bot i have spoken to 😅 ensured me, that mats are 100% original, oem product. I have my doubts. I also heard what you mentioned, that nengun often offers items that are actual not available... On the other hand mats i found on japanese yahoo or ebay are in poor condition and still quite expensive so i'd rather wait for some better offers. My location - Poland. We literaly don't have ANY market for used Stagea parts so need to search outside Europe.
    • You can’t see much on the other side as the lcd is there I don’t think it’s the same as the m33 beside it as the markings on top is not the same was hoping someone had a good quality photo or if they just happened to have the unit in hand, quickly take the cover off and take a photo to clearly show the marking on top to identify the diode   the unit is currently with an electronics repair shop so I can’t take another photo at the moment hopefully they are smart enough to know if it’s a zener diode or not
    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
