DC2s are the business.

My mech (works at Honda) has one.

I have driven it - it is the most fun FWD car I have driven. His has suspension mods (out handles the stock GTR), slight exhaust mods and lots of work on stock tune (ie timing).

Beware, these cars are fast! I love it - wouldn't mind one as a circuit car.

Now that I think of it, another mate has a track DC2 - full spoon motor - awesome. Does 1:29s (something like that) around Sandown...

Are you all comparing a imported Skyline Turbo against a locally delivered ITR? :P

Let's get a few things straight,

-a CTR is not faster then a ITR down the quarter.

-JDM stock for stock a DC2 ITR is quicker then a Skyline 25GT-t down the quarter even on the street...I can atest to that many a nights down Chiko and both drivers are experienced drivers. Hell a Prelude Type S is quicker then a 25GT-t

As quoted above... yes..."Beware, these cars are fast!"

Do I like these cars, they are awesome cars but FWD are like novelty...you will get bored of them after 6 months and the modifications cost is just not worth it compared to a turbo. As for the de-tuned Aust delievered ITR, they are still a very good driver's car, but considering I wouldn't buy a JDM one I won't an Aust one, but that is just me.

The comparison to locally delivered ITR is valid since that's what the majority of cars here would be. We would compare locally delivered Skyline to locally delivered ITR if you like?

DC2 vs. R32 GTR both locally delivered? I dont know the outcome, you would be the best person to ask I guess.

lol...that would be a nonsense comparison :P

Actually a ITR vs BNR32 in the twisties would be interesting...the ITR would give it a good run for it's money. Once I had a half-go at a ITR and new Cooper S up on Rokko (for those who don't know Rokko has many single lane winding stretches, hairpins and 2nd gear all the way up). The Cooper S was freaking quick, short wheelbase, small turn circle...similar with the ITR, both annoyed the crap out of me because I couldn't pass and having to come off boost everytime I hit a hairpin every 30-40 metres. Both drivers look like they knew how to handle a FWD really well.

ftos are really really shit

I think 8 second 0-100 and 15 to 16's 1/4'r mile???

+ they look so ugly

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder...FTO are nice cars plus they won JCOTY in 94-95 IIRC, they run flat 15s quarters.

Compared to cars these days they aren't as quick but considering back then they were doing alright. I find the interior quite cramped and the rear seats are only good for legless passengers...but she also loves to rev!

a mate has a DC5 which ran 14 flat at Drag Combat with full exhaust, intake, usual mods

no internals, no cams, no cam gears, engine hasnt been opened at all..

he's on these forums, lets see if he finds this thread

5Uki? how'd he manage that without cams?? :bs!:

Its all about traction with FWD NAs, one of my friends did 13.7 with the above mods + semi slicks on a non-TypeR 1.8VTEC Integra. The VTECs go very well for NAs, my old VTEC Prelude managed 141fwkw with basic bolt on modifications + dyno tuning - which gave it pretty respectable (even by turbo standards) acceleration, though bare in mind in NZ most of our cars seem to be Jap versions - which go better than the non Jap ones right from the start.

Obviously, no way near as much fun as a Skyline - missing the RWD factor primarily, but if you have to worry about insurance etc they are definately a good idea. I bought the Prelude to keep me happy until the expense of a turbo was something I could live with :) A normal VTEC Integra with basic mods will even make a very good car to blat around in until a turbo is doable.

judging from what he said, exhaust(extractors & hiflow cat? or just catback?) / intake and the "usual mods" - whatever that is..... + street tyres = 14 flat? on an AUDM DC5R?

i know of a fella with AUDM DC5R with catback zorst(with hiflow cat,no extractors) and intake mods doing 14.7 on sh*tty factory tyres.

the beauty of the Type-Rs(JDM) is that they are a fun car from factory as it is.....

The Type-R is a good car, but I don't know, it just doesn't stir the blood, good at everything not great at anything it seems, and for the money you want something a bit more exciting. It's not like a Type-R will turn many heads, it looks like a big civic, too tall and thin, not low and wide like a sports car should be, it's still pretty, but in that forgettable way. The FTO on the other hand, well that just has a total hairdressers car reputation, so why buy one of those.

I guess there isn't really any really great sportscars been made at the moment, the Rx-8 is interesting, nice interior, suicide doors and all that, reasonably pretty, but not wildly so, but 60k for a mazda!? bit much, the 350 is overpriced and a mixed bag, what does that leave... nothing much really, we need some more radicial designs, I hope the next Integra is a real showstopper.

I hope the next Integra is a real showstopper.

there won't be any as far as Australia is concerned....Honda Oz is getting rid of the 'Type-R' from the lineup.....gonna sell the Type-S that is similar to the US-spec ones.....that means no LSD or Recaros...nor a body kit too...

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
