i know how to get the cover off and everything, then there are coil packs on top of each spark plug ? what do i do to get these off? I think you should replace them with like iridiums or NGK spark plugs, factory gap is 1.1mm but lots of line owners seem to regap to .8mm, at what rev range is it misfiring?

u disconnect the battery and press the brake pedal for a few minutes to make it totally powerless, if uve got an alarm system u will have to turn it off or just let it go off from the back up battery like i did. If u really want to drain the power leave the car for a whole day disconnected (sourced from http://www.powerlink.co.nz/~graeme/faq/). Reconnect and then start, the ecu will do a diagnostics and advance timing till it has a knock then it will retard so its perfect. I did it on mine but i didnt do it properly cos my alarm was goin crazy so i just reconnected and wil do later

im trying to work out how to get them out of the block, i pulled the plastic cap off and found that each plug has its own coil pack, isnt that cool, but how do i get them off without breaking sumthing. There are charts which u can prolly get from supercheap or sum mechanical place which shows damaged sparkplugs compared to a good one, and gapping them u should get a feeler gauge ($10) and just tap them gently till the gap is at .8 which is what ppl seem to like. the feeler gauge is to measure the gap, do not use a hammer or pliers, and iridium plugs shouldnt be regapped too apparently

OK i did mine 2 weeks ago so I know the process......

-Once you have removed the NISSAN cover, undo the electrical plugs (one for each spark plug)

-Take off the plug (just pulls off)

-The you will be looking at the top of the spark plug.

-In your socket set you will have a really big socket (i forget the size) and use the extension arm, put this socket over the spark plug and undo.

- Be careful not to drop anything into the whole (do 1 plug at a time to avoid dropiing anything down there)

- Get the new spark plug, screw it in (VERY TIGHT)

- Put the plug back on

- Continue.

I did my spark plugs last week for my r33 gts25t

i just followed the instructions of the web page above.

BTW don't tighten the spark plugs too much and not to leave them too loose. read up about it on www.ngk.com.au they tell you everything about them.

But for the R33 spark plugs NGK (BKR6E11) just normal copper ones B = Thread length 14mm for this length the tightness of the spark plug recommended by Ngk was HAND tight then with the socket wrench another 180degrees of a circle..

Changing the spark plugs helped me solve the miss firing problem which occured for me at above 4000rpm but my spark plugs needed replacement coz they done like 15000km for copper that it

What about the 12mm headed bolts that hold the coilpack framework down on the sparkplug?

Use the right spark plug socket!
- Be careful not to drop anything into the whole (do 1 plug at a time to avoid dropiing anything down there)

- Get the new spark plug, screw it in (VERY TIGHT)

NOT very tight at all, NGK recommend about 25 ft/lb torque when the head is cold (and that's not a lot of torque)
- Put the plug back on

- Continue.

While you have it all apart, clean off the rubber boots on the coilpacks, make sure there's no carbon or moisture or stuff hanging around, as that can provide an easy path to earth for the spark pulse.

hey i reset the ECU.. AND Oh yeh!!!, NOT ONE missfire!! I went to 7100rpms in first and second.. Sounds great without that annoying noise. Also it handles a bit different too.. Better actually.

If it starts to missfire again in sayyy a 2 months, is it safe to reset the ECU again?

    • I'll just leave this with, holy shit, those cars at work are awesome, and this will look wicked!
    • Could you modify this duct so instead it pushes the extra air through the radiator too and not down and out? For temps, I know it's not the greatest idea, but as a bit of a last resort, you could use a very intermittent misting spray onto the front of the coolers/rad. You don't want to be soaking them such that water is dripping off, but a small most on/off so that the water evaporates. That point of it constantly evaporating, rather than being soaked in water, will pull a LOT of heat out of the cooler. I'm literally thinking just the little mist sprayers for a garden from Bunnings. Being in a low humidity climate it will help even more! The other trick if you want to be ghetto is some shade cloth hung in the opening, and keep it wet. Pretty much now it's acting like an evap cooler on a house, but cooling the air you need to use to cool the radiator...   On a topic to think about too though, when air enters through the bumper, is it all nicely ducted from the edges of that opening back at a nice angle, or is it like most cars, and the edge of the opening just stops, and suddenly it's wayyy wider behind that? If it does the later, get it shrouded out at nice angles. When that opening changes too rapidly, it can actually cause a high pressure zone between the front bar and radiator, and limit air flow into that area, which means less air for cooling, as it effectively stalls the air, AND adds to drag...
    • Do you have any before and after photos? That's $200 just for the hydro blasting?
    • It doesn't look like there's a lot of options out there these days, and what's out there is performance oriented aftermarket stuff (with the GTR markup) I wonder if there are other cars with similar springs, after all its just a matter of length, diameter and stiffness. Alternatively, I did see coil spacers. Probably not the best option, but could be serviceable too.
