vitz_n1
a while back i ass ended a holden with a tow bar in my old 626 which dinted in the front-middle of my car in about a foot and bent my radiator nearly right angles. so we drove her to the nearest stable looking tree and tied her to it, wacked it in reverse and wallah. threw the bumper in the boot, disconnect the rad fan. $30 for a bumper from the wreckers and 20 000km later and still goin strong. NicsR33
not that dodgy but i got the new grill just hours before leaving for autosalon. since i didn't have time to make brackets and look for new screws the bonnet is holding the grill in place. chances are ill probably leave it like this. Spunky Munky
was going on a cruise, suddenly on the way i hit some animal and my front bar was literally 'falling apart bit by bit'. had no choice but to use something to stick the main joints together. too far away to convenience store to buy duct stape or cable-ties etc, so me and my mate took turns chewing up 2 packets of wigleys chewing gum that we had bought days ago, we then used that to stick back the main joints (of course some screws held it together too) but it worked. funny enough, after a while the chewing gum gets really hard and actually holds the car together well. and for those wondering, 'no' - i don't still have gum on my car. ha ha ah funny thread and posts. Smokin_R33
Went to a mates house in woodridge in the afternoon in my sisters car, went to come home at night and notice the low beams in the car had blown, one of them was already blown, had to get back to the goldie for work, so i put tin foil under the headlight covers and drove home with the lights on high beam with just a small section of light shining thru. Also the usual cable ties and ducktape on front bar, pod filter etc Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/162210-dodgy-things-you-have-done-to-your-cars/page/7/#findComment-3100941 Share on other sites
stolen_s15
When I put my sub and amp in they were only secured in the boot with rolled up car magazines. Stayed like that for about 4 months before I got so sick of everything bumping around. vidospace
Added home hi-fi speakers to my first car. Sat them behind the front seats (it was a celica TA22). Beat the single speaker in the dash though! Black_Widow34
On my old civic I needed a longer intake pipe and adaptor for the pod so I cut a 600ml coke bottle to size and that fit perfectly into the stock intake pipe and the pod. Held in place perfectly and also gave awesome deep intake sound. After that my friends started to call my house ‘ghetto mods performance centre’. Lol. machg
After the 4age (legendary corolla engine) spat a rod, I bought a 7afe (different head, taller block, same bore) for $200 from a wreckers. ripped out the 4age and box, split them joined the 7afe and box and put them back in. Fart arsed around trying to get the eletrics hooked up, gave up, ripped the 7afe head off put the 4age head on, despite the fact that one of the cam bearings was totally rooted, oh yeah, re-used the head bolts LOL, that was 40,000 Ks ago...still going strong, touch wood. Its really funny most of the mechanics I talked to were like "It can't be done" "That's a waste of a head gasket" LOL Edited June 2, 2007 by machg Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/162210-dodgy-things-you-have-done-to-your-cars/page/7/#findComment-3157291 Share on other sites
