Well I have been having cold start issues lately, the thing just starts like a tracktor, see my other posts.

I uses datalogit to see what is goignon, and i can't see anythign obvious, exceppt teh battery voltage dropping to 7.4V. I have seen 6.6 and 8.2 a couple of times.

Can this attribute to starting issues.

The funny things is that it only starts like a dog one, when cold, any other time after that, during the day, eaven in the afternnon, it will be fine.

Basically if ECU temp sensor is below 20 Deg C it starts like a dog.

hey mate,

it seems as though ur battery is on its last legs, obviously you will find it more difficult to start the car in the colder conditions than when hot. i found that when buying a car battery go for a battery that has a higher cca value. i think cca stands for cold cranking amperage. the higher this value, the more cranking amperage you have and thus the ease at which you can start your car. As batteries get older the cca deteriorates .

Well the thing is, it's a Hitachi 6 month old battery.

What has been happening.

Basically, when I go to start the car when it is below 18 Deg C, the car splatters, sounds like it’s a bit flooded, revs at 300 rpm, then coughs, splatters and is fine from there.

I have done many things, and over the weekend what I did was to turn the fuel pump off, and pressurize the fuel system with air, to remove all fuel, you will be surprised to hear that the car will run for 2 minutes on the fuel in the fuel rail alone.

So after ensuring that there was no fuel in the rail, or injectors, I was hoping to solve my problems of cold start, but figuring out that it’s a leaking fuel injector.

WELL, I reconnected the hoses, primed the lines and the car still started like crap.

So I figure it’s not the injectors, but can someone shed some light on if what I did could prove that it was not the injectors.

HELP.

I could be your starter motor?

If the brushes are worn and they have also worn the armature then you'll get arcing. This arcing robs the power out of your battery and lowers the health of the spark at the plugs. This means that your spark is dull/weak so your motor is trying to/firing on a weak yellow spark, not a fat blue one. Not sure if this can happen to skylines, but other motors it definitely happens, I've seen it and repaired it [well got the starter motor rebuilt].

If you crank the starter motor over and check the armature at the same time you'll see the arcing, they all arc a bit, but if its bright and strong then I'd get the starter motor checked.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?

    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
