hurro,

my bother was saying something about how the cameras on the ring rd don't snap you for going over the speed limit but they calculate something between between 2 or so cameras that you drive past then they work out whether you were speeding? :) :)

does anyone know what i'm talking about or where i can get some info on this?

is this old news? lol

thanks

The way I herd that it works, is that both cameras record your vehicle. Software matches the vehicles up (REGO) and calculates the time it took to for you to travel from A to B and works out your speed. There will also be the normal Fixed speed cameras and road patrols.

I think it's only the ones on the Hume HWY bypass that snap you over distance.

I'd imagine it would be too hard to do the same on the Ring Road, with the variable speed limit.

Off topic. But do you work on prospect st in box hill. I thought I saw your car there today.

R-SPEC: Yeah, my missus lives just off Lygon St, so it may have been a possibility it was my car.

Ray: The cameras that detect your speed point-to-point are on the Hume HWY.

The Ring Road cameras are:

Greensborough Bound:

Boundary Road - Behind the Signs

Western HWY - Behind the Signs and on the Exit aswell

Keilor Park Dve - Behind the overpass

Pascoe Vale Rd - Just before you get into the tunnel

Altona Bound:

Widford Rd Bridge - Behind the overpass

Calder Park Overpass - Hidden up high between the two bridges

Western HWY - Just before the exit, hidden behind signs

Boundary Road - Behind the Signs

^^ No, having to have to do 20Ks or less on a freeway just coz you felt like speeding for a sec beforehand

thought so.

I played a part in the setting up of these the new western ring road speed cameras. I told my boss when he gave me the job if I had a religion this would be against it. They are the old fasion if you speed you get your photo taken type. There is even a second camera linked to the system that takes a pic of the variable speed sign at the same time it snaps the speeding vehicle.

The Westy ring road has these cameras, saw them yesterday, also the temp signs saying 'Cameras are on, speed cameras reduce accidents' or something like that. Mind you i nearly side swiped a falcon wagon full of newborn babies reading it!

I had a thought ....... and Yes it hurt...... If you abide by the speed limit...... mabe ..just mabe.. you won't have to worry about getting booked?

That said .... i spend so much time looking at my speedo these days, that i rarely have a chance to see where i am driving.. so look out for all these responsible drivers doing the speed limit while running you into a concrete pylon.

are u serious that there are speed cameras that measure the time it took between the two and book you on that!! Where exactly for a fact are these cameras.

There is nothing new about this style of camera, these have been operating on the M1 in the UK for several years around the midlands area. They run over 3 sets and the idea has most likely been deployed in other areas by now as I remember when they were trialled. :)

    • Oh dear. The panel beating needs to be done before the filler work. Do you have a photo of the dent before you started? Hard enough to not flex and only hit the high spots?  What do you mean it was just temporary?
    • Can u check this way it works for power supply?
    • These coils draw 10amps that what i read online
    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
    • That worked out PERFECTLY! Thank you big time to JJ. He was able to swap me his stock diff. He drove all the way to me as well. Killer! Removal & install was pretty straightforward. The diff itself is HEAVY. So that’s a 2 man job.  Man does the car drive nice now! Couldn’t have worked out any better 👌
