recently got an Apexi AFC NEO from Aaron, and got it installed and tuned last thursday by hills motor sport.

little did i know before hand that it turns out that the turbo i have is actually hi-flowed, so i ended up with some rather nice results.

the first run is the lower line and each line further up is each power run as he was tuning the car. the final 2 higher ones are on higher boost, which it runs now.

would it be able to support more psi? i'd think at 16 we'd see some sexy looking kw

im not sure if it can or not.. would have to ask about that. id love to have more power though haha

wait wait..... so what mods do you have on the car?

And any idea on what the difference is between an AFC NEO and a normal AFC?

mods at the moment are, front mount, pod, boost controler, cat back 3" exhaust, hi-flow turbo and now the AFC Neo.

not a clue sorry, ive never used the older type one. all i know is that the AFC Neo is the latest one in the range.

if you go to the apexi usa website, it'll show you about it there.

Yeah I did find info saying that it combines what the SAFC and the VAFC do in one unit.

It's all very interesting to me, as I was told that you couldn't run a hi-flow without changing to proper tuning and bigger injectors and AFM, but I've since found plenty to say that is just bs. Now it makes me worried about going back to a mechanic who is actually extremely good at what he does..... I hate having to change mechanics

im not sure about that, like if i was to run the hi-flow at as hi as it could go, im sure id have to do some more changing, like as it is, the fuel cut sometimes kicks in (hopefully getting that looked at and fixed on thursday).

like it goes well, but i bet with a better AFM and bigger injectors, it would be a lot better

Looks awesome, can we get a copy of the AFR posted?

wish i had one mate, didnt get a print out though sorry.. i will ask to see if he still has it on the computer when i go back on thursday. hes taking the car for a street tune as its only been dyno tuned.

Mate how much was it to tune the Neo? ive been eyeing one off for while now, nothing too extreme so suits me well.

Also, where did you locate the display panel?

well i partly installed the neo (ran the cable and put it in the dash) the rest was done by hills. it cost $405 all up which was good. good tune, just some small bumps to iron out now that ive found when driving on the street.

i mounted the display in the dash just bellow the cd player

i want to get some sort of cover to put over it so i can hide it if i need to.

Is it just me or is there a huge gap between the AT:26 and IT:61 thats 35degrees difference.

Time to take it to the drag strip and see whats it can run

haha yeh there is, duno whats up with that.

yes would be good to take it down there to the drags. a friend on sau got 12.9 i think it was running semi slicks and 210rwkw, so id expect mine to be in the high 12's at best with the tyres it has now (265/40/17). although semi's would be very nice to run.

Do you have stock injectors and an adjustable FPR or bigger injectors? What fuel pump?

as far as i know (i say that becasue i had no idea i had a hi-flow, who else know whats been changed that i cant see).. anyway, as far as i know it has stock injectors which im pretty sure of, standard FPR, and im pretty sure its the standard fuel pump.

if it is all standard, im probably pushing its limits and anything more would need a FPR or something. 3" dump would be nice though. only 3" from the back of the cat.

I am lookng at this mild tune up with the Neo when i install T04E turbo next week on my GTT. Hoping to bring down the fueling on the higher rev range. Do you think this unit is suitable? Have all the basic mods like FMIC, Oil Cooler, Twin core Radiotor, exhaust, etc. Appreciate feedback whether the NEO can do it's job.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
