The fine used to be $110 and no points, but damn now $1.1K + 3 points? i dont think there will be too many P platers on the road with performance cars after the set date

That's the idea, you can thank the smack tards who do street racing in turbo vehicles and V8's for this crap. This is the government reacting to public out cry. Get used to it.

man ive noticed that in the past month there have been nothing but stories about street draging and stuff, and lets not forget noble maccas. ffs this is gonna be hard man, oh well 2 more years, i can do it :P

A mate of mine got killed in a Hyundai Excel. These law's won't stop the road toll. Driver training is what's needed.

I used to have a sticker on my old car, maybe I should get it reprinted. It said: Don't ban high performance cars, ban low performance drivers!

Yes but I think in this case.. you're not likely to see an Excel going 160k/hr and I think that's the difference and the narrow point of view that the govt sees it from.

Don't think I'm on the side of these new laws tho.

The majority of tossers driving around like f/tards and flying through traffic are usually in a commodore. Doesn't need to be a v8 either.

Its like if I see a skyline doing 140+ and almost running people off the road, I remember it for months because it's a rare event. However a commodore acting like a tard and going at the same speeds.. it's hard to remember one from another because it happens so frequently...

Actually utes have been the worst offenders of late.

I think the actual statistics on fatalities and make/model of car involved would be more beneficial to the public.. as opposed to the current media process of.. if its a skyline, 300zx, 180sx etc say "SKYLINE" and if its anything else put "SEDAN".

Hope that makes sense, I'm in a rush :P

just do community service if you cant pay it off lol

but still should be obeying those laws (yes they suck, but what can we do?)

Can you really do comm service if you get fined?

So say i get one of these fines, and i wont be able to pay it off, i can do comm service instead?

Or will they tell me to sell my car to pay for it

all i can say, is its gunna "SUX" to be a "JU"

sucks to be a jew? lol

As far as I know, 1991-1993 R32's are the legal ones....1990 would probably be over the CURRENT power to weight limit, so it'd be a no....

Tare sticker on my rego says 1250kg, stock power is 158kw = 126.4kw/tonne

I remember ive read somewhere that it is under the limit, but the above calculation isnt helping and if cops go by the weight on the rego sticker...then im in trouble lol

rego sticker weights mean nothing.

According to this site;

http://nissanskyline.6te.net/GTST_spec.htm

R32 weighs 1320kg. If vicroads uses this weight the car is 119~kw/tonne.

There is a difference in weight between 89-90 and 91-93 because of the added intrusion bars in the later models. Question is, would vicroads put that much detail in measuring weights of different year.

i got a '92 gtst so im all sweet, plus i got 18" and me being 6ft 5" and weighing 100kg helps out lol ....

what has this got to do with the price of fish in China?

It's the FACTORY weight of the vehicle without passengers...

    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
    • Yeah that looks like great caster, but I'd suggest trying less front camber some time and seeing if it helps with braking without reducing mid corner speed too much
    • I ended up setting the rear 5mm higher than normal to give some clearance.  My plan is to run the least camber I can in the rear which I think with the extra width is going to need to be -1.75 to -2.00° just to get clearance.  Guards have been rolled and pulled as much as they can/I would be wanting to.  front has the Acostal knuckle with the KPI change and the drop etc. So should be okay with the existing settings I have run with AR1s etc Front: Toe total -2mm(1mm out each side) Caster +7.5° Camber -3.8° Ackerman +15°
