An Evo will probably smoKe a GTST, but it in no way can be compared to the GTR. WHen talking Jap, the GTR is the benchmark. The GTR-34 has won the Japanese Supercar race tournament (I dunno whats its called) 5 years in a row. BeaT thaT Mr EVO.

Yeah I think its called JGTC - Japanese Grand Touring Championship... wtg Nissan :(

If your mates EVO 2 beats u then he will smoke me too probably, yeah get him to come though the more the merrier - its all for fun of course

evo 4 onwrds shudnt be spoken ill off, they R beasts, dont even try to compare it to the shitty lancers we have here in aust. even the 100 odd evo 6's brought in by ralli art are crap, they just waterd it down by detuning its ecu and took away it from lsd, stoopi ralli art.

evo's will smoke a gtst, even tho evo are only 2 litr they still have good top end, i have a friend whos gota tommi mak (i know these are better than normal 6's ) and he pulls flat 12's

Soulja i'd be on the look out for a black evo 6 with a sticker monstor on the bonnet in W.A!

btw top 4 cars in Best motoring are always evo, gtr, rx7, nsx

still in my book GTR is king of the road

I guess you compair you car to everyother car on the road. e.g if you drove a f-50 you would think a evo or gtr where shit house.

same idea applys here i guess, people dont like evo cuz they havnt driven them and felt wat they can and cant do.

I guess wat im tring to say is get your friend in a nicly modded GTS-T or GTR and that maybe might change his mind if you are lucky

good luck hehehe

the sheer stupidity than a RB26DETT can get to if enough money is thrown at it counters any advantage the EVO might have.

1st comment: yes i agree that a GTR came in 2nd. but how many GTRs were entered as compared to Evos?? plus i did say gymkhanam, not like a track situation, although i'd place my bets on an Evo on a track with plenty of tight corners and relatively short straights.

i have seen 1st hand what a tuned Evo and a tuned GTR 34, by Jun i would add, can do. in a short sprint, the GTR simply could not provide enough traction to beat the Evo. note the sprint was only 300m. the GTR came within tenths of a second of privateer Evo 5s and 6s. this is fairly common to see from where i come from.

2nd comment: yes the sheer amount of mad hp that the rb26 is capable of is very impressive. but, if u ask anyone from where i come from (asia), the world is not a straight. if it was, everyone would be on rails going as fast as possible. that is why i can say the Evo is every bit as balanced a car as the GTR. they have been built for different purposes. i have every respect for the 4G63 as i have for the rb26.

and as i have said, top end hp, the GTR would blow the Evo away. but that is a very bad comparison. try comparing getaway from traffic lights, corner entry, corner exit. you will find the Evo can more than hold its own against the GTR.

They are both great cars & both for slightly different purposes.

I agree the 4G63 is an excellent engine & the EVO is a very well balanced car.Ultimately you have both of them instead of one or the other. I do think that the EVOs are more fragile than GTRs, & with my particular driving style, I think the EVO would break before the GTR. It has been a hard decision, but that is why I am selling the EVO & keeping the GTR.

BTW - in stock form they quote 13.8 for the EVO, & 13.1 for the R34. I raced a totally stock R34 GTR the other day & it did do 13.1,

the EVO ran 13.4 but has exhaust/computer. My Blue R34 has exhaust/computer & runs 12.1. So in std form the EVO7 IS slower for the 400m.

From the 4 door, turbo 4cyl, 4WD cars available - the EVO is king.

From the 2 door, turbo 6cyl, 4WD cars available - the GTR is king.

From the 2 door, V12, RWD cars available - the 550 Maranello rules the world - imagine a turbo one!!!!!

There is ALWAYS someone badder or faster out there - thats why these comparison discussions are limited to peoples personal preferences, & don't actually end up with a solid verdict.

Munro...agree totally with you. but i'm sure the Evo could be strengthend?? i mean the chasis n body made stronger??

i believe the vast improvement you experienced with the 34 is due largely to more displacement and cylinders. dun forget the extra turbo. have been following your progress with enthusiasm.

doing a great job....kudos to you...continue to fly the Nissan flag high.

one question has to be asked tho, was the Evo Aussie delivered? if so, u're comparing an Aussie spec car to a JDM car, and as common knowledge, Aussie spec is detuned.

Had met a Evo 4 with exhaust at traffic light, it beat me 1.5 car lengh at shoot out, and i keep up with him in the second and finish at 0.5 car at 3 gear. If the road allow us to continue, i think i will beat him at 4 gear... For 1/2 of the car price, 2wd vs 4wd, i think i am doing pretty well.

Just to add a bit more.

EVO 1 's (the cheap old ones) have a lot of potential as all evo's have basically the same engine, and the 1's have the lowest compression. Filter, exhaust, 16psi (they seem to handle this ok on good gas) and they'll get into mid 12's...

Ecu, Turbo and injector upgrade and they'll jsut about break into 11's...

In stock trim against each other, any Evo from Evo 3+ will beat a R33 quiet well on the 1/4. Top end speed will be one by skyline due to 6 cylinders, more torque and more power etc, but when comparing these cars you have to take into account what you are comparing here. An evo is a 2ltr AWD, and a skyline is a 2.5 RWD... so basically they are chalk and cheese to start with, built for two totally different purposes. Evo's are a super quick pocket rocket, but the price tag is much higher than a skyline and is more race bread than a GTSt, to compar porperly skyline verse lancer you'd have to compare it to a GTR to make it more similar, however then the skyline would win due to simple reasons of extra displacement and extra cylinders and extra turbo. Hard to comapre a GTSt to an Evo but i know personally i'd rather an Evo than my R33 simply because i am a big fan of them. My car has some good mods and is quick but i can't beat my mates lightly modded Evo III.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
