I have recently upgraded my skyline with full exhaust and electronic boost controller,

I am interested in more power though and am considering in a turbo of capable of higher pressure and FMIC.

There are turbos on ebay for around $300 and FMIC for around $300 aswell, Has anyone purchased 1 or I would like some opinions?

the cheap generic 600x300x76mm intercoolers are fine. Im sure LOTS of SAU'ers use them.

a $300 turbo on the other hand, not so great.

Yeah I have been reading on forums and seems that FMIC dont matter 2 much.

But what turbo then 2 buy I dont want 2 fork out 2 much any suggestions??

what motor is it? RB20 or RB25?

if your looking to do a turbo upgrade, there are more things to factor in than just a cooler upgrade.

the ecu would need to be modified or replaced, possible injector upgrade, a larger fuel pump, a stronger clutch, air filter upgrade etc etc.

i would rather buy a second hand brand name turbo then a brand new Ebay turbo.

$300 for the turbo, then 2 weeks later...$900 for rebuilding the turbo...OR possibly worse if the front wheel went into the engine...

can anyone point me in the way of buying a cooler my skyline, have only had it for around 3 weeks looking for somewhere to buy one, but a decent one

there are items on ebay, and there are items on ebay

some are completely dodgy items :

scams, electronic superchargers for 75HP which are a fan in the intake pipe on an n/a car

those 5HP resistors etc

600HP turbos for $600

not hks apexi nismo greddy tomei ashtray

dodgy traders

then there are good bargains well well know traders and shop "runners"

usually have really high feedback and sell good stuff just cheap

without the added bullcrap of running a normal retail store

choose carefully but remember there are lots of bargains

just be careful, double check, ask, lots of reading and check their feedback

I have RB25, I wouldnt mind 250rwkw, What are the capabilities of stock injectors?

I was told i should be able to get upto 15psi on stock injectors and ecu.

for that power you will need

- ECU - PowerFC, wolf, halteck, autronic (to remap fuel etc)

- New fuel pump - about a 500hp internal will be good

- Turbo, not an ebay turbo, a high flowed will be best as it will bolt straight back in so you won't need a new manifold or dump pipe and existing imtercooler

piping can also be used

- intercooler, hybrid are cheap and a decent brand

- injectors (recoomended)

with the injectors they should be able to to achieve that but you will need a new fuel pump and fuel pressure reg.

but keep in mind the duty cycle of the injector will be above 85%, so an injector upgrade will be good to lower the duty cycle.

550cc nismos are a direct replacement

somebody should buy them and see how they go ?

there onli 300 bucks and they could onli blow not alot of money realli?

i mean hell most of the shit we pay for in the high labour costs, thats made in aust anyway

hrms, not too sure if the stock ecu can handle 15psi...

anything over 12+ psi and your in rich and retard territory. though some sau'ers are lucky to get 14psi with no rich and retard on the stock ecu.

just my two cents...

cheers

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
