Hey all,

First off, I've done heaps of research already. :D This isn't a thread asking about what turbo should I get, as I've already decided upon the GT-RS and I've got one coming already. I'm just simply after dyno graphs so I can see an analyse the power, torque and boost curves and to compare each one to the other. I'm just trying to see what others have and what seems to work best so I can get the best out of my turbo when it goes on. :)

Already have looked through the entire RB25 Turbo Upgrade thread, but since most of the pictures there don't work anymore and only peak power figures are written down I'm starting this thread up as I'm more interested in the shape of the power/boost/torque curves.

So all you HKS GTRS owners out there, please post up your dyno graphs and list your modifications as well as boost level your running. :thanks: I'm after RB25 specifically but RB20/RB20DET people please post as well as it will be a useful comparison. :worship:

All help will be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks,

Andy

I'll edit this and post them up when i'm home from work (if i can find them)

Was 230rwkw from memory when it was first done about 2 years ago, on about 14psi on a softish tune

Now it's been sharpened up a bit and had splitfire coils added, 16-17psi and just over 250. Feels a lot better in the midrange, though.

Really comes on song at 3500rpm thereabouts.

I'm told that cams will add around 10+rwkw to the equation with a noticeably beefier midrange, but that's a fair whack of cash for not that many extra horsies.

I too would be interested to see what others have done - i know there are GT-RS's out there pushing much bigger numbers than i am!!

Mods (series II r33):

GT-RS / FMIC / PFC / Z32 AFM / Fuel pump / Nismo 740's /Splitfire coils / 3" turbo back

Thanks Al :)

I wasn't sure if you wanted me to post your one up or not.

Guys which rear exhaust housings do you have? I seem to have the .64 one (stamped onto mine) but I was under the impression that the Skyline GTRS's came with .86 housings?

Im pretty sure that the HKS GT-RS for gtst, gts25t and gtt all come with the .63 a/r exhaust housing, i dont think there is optional housings avaliable.

Not sure about the GTR'S tho

Did I hear that cams for an extra 10kw's top end will cost too much $$$$vs performance...

It is not about the top end...it will spool faster and your turbo will kick in lower and give a better power result..in real world

driving...not dyno type driving...ffs at 7500RPM.lol

Cams do look tasty but I think I'll be leaving that for a secondary stage of mods, first being the turbo, injectors, afm and pfc. Second might be cams, splitfire coils, plenum.

Beeble, any luck with getting those graphs yet?

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
