Hi guys,

GT-R's been 100% fine. I have a completely DEAD battery due to the car being in the workshop for afew months, but a very strong battery jump starter which I have been using to start the car up for times when I need to move it.

I was doing a few things the other day:

1) Replacing the 180km/hr cluster with a 320km/hr cluster.

2) Putting back the plastic panel over my Power FC ECU.

3) I removed a unit/box that looked like an ecu thing which was found behind the driver side rear 1.4 trim.

And when I went to start the car up, it cranks but the engine does not fire up!!!

- Immobiliser wires have been checked, and immobiliser seems to switch off (red light turns off when de-activiating it). Car cranks so this means it's not the immobiliser?

- I put the ecu/unit/box behind the driver side rear 1/4 back in. I still do not know what this unit is. I thought it was a stereo AMP or something?

- I took off thw plastic panel over the Power FC ecu and checked all wires in case I damaged something back there, everything seems fine.

- Replaced spark plugs just in case, everything seems fine.

- Checked fuses, do I check every single one of them?! The ones I did check under the steering wheel, seem fine.

Car still will not start, cranks and cranks but does not fire up!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Really confused!

Guys it was this little unit which godzl1975 pointed out as the fule pump modulator. Plugging it back in wasn't enough, we had to re-mount it on the chassis before the car would start! IE: It had to be properly grounded in order to work. Amazing how such a silly small thing stopped the whole car from starting and caused us to do so much head scratching, not to mention taking the dash apart, ECU and replacing spark plugs!!! :)

Yeah i unbolted it but left it plugged in (can't erember why but sure enought he car wouldnt start till i screwed it back down. I 2nd the statement about removing things after you learn what they do. Many people under estimate the complexity and technology built into these awesome machines.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
