Hey forum just popping in to attain some info from the experts. Just wanted to know what id=s the max hp to be expected out of a rb26dett engine? Looked and searched the forum got 400rwkw but that wasn't confirmed, so I just want to know what the awkw figure would be just with bolt-ons. Gonna get myself a GTR and just wanted to know what I can do to the stock engine power wise that will make it last as it will be a daily driver I was looking at say 373 kw at all the wheels can the stock engine handle that?

300kw is beyond the limits of stock internals

you should get it built if you want 300kw

theres no upper limit i guess, how much money do you have, gtr700 makes 1100hp i think

Money is here and there (meaning scarce)after I get the car might have about 5000 left for whatever upgrades that can do, but can always borrow some money to get the car where I need it to be and I am not in a rush so it doesnt all have to be one time. Its completely stock so 3000 probably going on intercooler, pfc, and exhaust. What I really want is a gtr that has 500 horses is that enuff hp to do burnouts and 360's?

dont get a GTR to do burnouts and 360s

helis will kill the stock motor due to oil starvation and youll be in no position (presumably) for a 10k rebuild

Just get an exhaust, power fc and tune, some cam gears and a timing belt change (if needed)

Theres close to 250rwkw without raising a sweat

The factory intercooler wont need to be changed

if you want to do burnouts and 360's get yourself a RWD car.

You can go about 300kw on the stocker engine after that things are gonna go sour on you. get the basics, and have ur turbochargers checked, if they go bang on you then youd be up for a expensive build. but look at your finances first, you cant have a killer car and eat out of the dumpster.

Daboss, a GTR isnt for you. $5000 will only half cover the engine rebuild. Let alone the other 10k you'll need.

The maintainance costs are far beyond what you'll be able to afford, and would eat up the 5k alone in a couple of years, if not sooner

Especially if you wanna rape and abuse a motor.

There is no chance in hell the RB26 will crank out 400rwkw if you just wanna do burnouts.

I'd give it a few weeks of that treatment and it would be dead. Even @ 300rwkw. No stock RB26 will live a long life on the limiter.

Most track GTRs with 300-330rwkw eventually shit motors be that 1-2-3 years of use in such a manner... actuallly.. none have lasted to my knowledge

Ok thanks for the input guys, wow guess the GTS-T is the way to go. :) really wanted a GTR though. So what would I need engine wise to produce 350 awkw in a GTR?

Do not want it just for that, Just wanted to know if I wanted to cut loose from time to time if I could with a gtr and how much awkw would it take. Just wanted the ultimate performance car that would give me the most out of my dollar and that would rival many of the evo's, supras, rx7s and mustangs we have over here basically on a stock motor.

LOL how tru!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Supra hands down, forged internals, you can make 400+RWKW on stock engine and gearbox no probs and there are heaps of example i can give. Unbelievable cars that are extremely underrated, try to get a newish one though 97,98 or even s15 isnt to bad as its light cheap to mod and maintain compared to 6cyl and will give you all the sideways burnout action you like, whilst also being reliable conisdering its a 2001mdl compared to 97 etc

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
