geez, ease up a bit guys. I drive a cab for a living to make a few extra bucks. been doing night shift for the last 8 months or so, and I'm a pretty good driver on the road. always courteous etc. give me a break.

LOL is there a cabbie forum?? 100% there's a thread on there called "Those f**king skyline driver!"

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I got a story!! I was going down victoria rd in my 31. This kunt in a silver vectra who has his wife and his kid with him, went from the left lane to the right lane (the left lane ends many times on victoria rd) three times in a row. I then decided to go around the annoying f**ker and got in the right lane as i got closer, he moves into the right lane when the left lane disappears. This tool had no idea which lane to keep his shitbox in. He was as confused has a gay man in a room full arse holes.

I didn't have a horn (as the few that have been in the car whilst im driving, know i'm very "horny" (i like using the horn) in the car), so i flashed him, went next to him and told him off. You know what he did? He starts swearing at me like i was in the wrong.. WTF. His wife and kid looked worried.. f**k, if they weren't there......

Who the f**k gives these motherf**kers their license? f**king clueless kunts.

/rant :)

please explain how you "drive a cab for a living", "to make a few extra bucks". lol

Hate them..

Was going up oxford street a few nights back.. Saw all this commotion, looked to the left two ambulances with someone inside one crying their eyes out.. Look to the right and see a cab with it's windshield smashed in.. :P

I sometimes enjoy when I'm at the lights and they try to skip the traffic by getting in the left lane and taking off from the lights fast.. I just wait it out.. get ahead and slow down so they have to stop in the parked car lane and wait for others to let them back in :sorcerer:

Oxford street, extremely high rate of pedestrian injuries and deaths. Lot's of people off their faces lots of the time. Twice I have come around the corner from Flinders into Oxford and nearly hit an idiot on the road when they shouldn't be. 2 days ago was so close that when the idiot gestured to his mate while talking I was able to punch his hand to wake him up. Don't think he did though as he was completely munted.

That said, I've played frogger on that street one morning about 10am.

Those f**king pedestrians! They should be banned.

I steer as far away from cabbies as humanly possible...

and wtf is it with them accelerating with the brake light on...

one thing I hate is machine abuse, and gunning it while applying the brake is epic.

I'm not going to rant as I've done so in the Sydney drivers thread

a very simlar thing happend to me the other day

but was an old guy in a gold accent, he was being a tool and was tailgating everyone

when i had the chance i stayed up next to him, and the whole way on the road i just keep blocking him off when he was about to over take, i didnt even try to take off fast at the lights and that kunt sturggles so hard to keep up( i mean to the speed limit), then 100 m down the road he comes pass doing 30+kph over the limit, but we always seem to meet up at the next lights for some reason. didnt look at him once, but at the last lights, i was about to turn right, i looked over and that kunt was swearing his head off and looked like he was about to have a heart attk, i just smiled at him. it was funny sh*t

I just remembered some thing..

Am I only the one that is scared when they see a taxi with a big f**koff bullbar on the front of their car.. like the ones that belong on the front of a american size pickup truck or hummer..

not if im at home.

its funny that this thread has come up...a guy at my uni slashed up a cabbie the other night and dumped his body in a park nearby..wonder why? revenge maybe?
this is exactly what you wanted to do when this sort of event happened lol but yeh -10 for both cabbie & buses

+1 for hating cab drivers who think they own the road!

and +1 for hating bus drivers who think they can cut u off as soon as they put their signal on!

A friend of mine did see a bus driver being written a ticket once tho, cos he cut off an unmarked cop car...lol serves him right!

bit off topic but

i know a fella that got pulled over by a coppa for doin like 5k's over the limit it was around $150 fine

    • Yes that’s what im trying to decide. Should I do stock gtt box or enclosed or open pod.
    • Also, I note OP is in Melbourne, which begs the question... are you aware of how illegal your car will be with a turbo, and intercooler and any sort of filter change? I don't know how you can get past the "2 intake mods" "rule" that seems to exist in Vic. Fully engineered might or might not get you there.
    • If you have a turbo... then the ducting holes I used to feed the pod are not available because your intercooler likely uses them. If you have an intercooler, your IAT's are going to be goverened by how good your intercooler setup is. I'm yet to really see anyone check IAT with a snorkel/boxed pod/proper CAI versus and unshielded pod. It would be interesting! But I suspect that the differences would not be so noticeable as if you were N/A as the intercooler is where the air is being cooled.. and out in front where the FMIC would be is a pretty good spot for it.. When I was turbo I pushed the stock GTT box as far as I could and made some pretty good power out of it, and noticed on the street I never made the same power/boost. Then I did a before and after run with a pod filter versus the box and picked up about 9PSI from the same boost duty cycle and about 50KW instantly. I never ran the stock box again, and recently removed it for my N/A setup. The box is restrictive to a degree - Even with the V8 setup I noticed I picked up power by removing the box completely, so punching holes from the bottom of it to get air from the passenger guard *helps* but the most effective one in my case was simply having the ducts, a pod, and no box around it. In my experience, *more* air was better than cold air. The air (with ducts) will be cooled off as you start moving, and especially if you start moving fast (a race track). It actually moves around quite a bit as you can see.
    • Well you could certainly buy or build an enclosure for a pod in that corner of the bay. It is absolutely vital that there is a nice big opening to let cold air in to it from the front or underside, otherwise it will just pull air in around the edges from the bay, and if that air is hot, you gain nothing from enclosing the pod. There is lots of good evidence around (including on here, see posts by @Kinkstaah for example) showing that pods pulling hot air from the bay is only a problem when you're static or slow in traffic, and that as soon as you get the car up and moving the air being grabbed by the pod cools down. Although that will obviously vary from car to car, whether there is a flow of cold air to the pod or if it all has to come through the radiator area, etc etc. Obviously, the whole exercise requires as much thought as anything else does. Doing the lazy thing will often end up being the dumb thing. The stock GTT airbox has a cold air snorkel to feed it from over the radiator. Shows that Nissan were thinking. The GT airbox is upside down compared to the turbo one, yeah? Inlet at the bottom, AFM/exit on the lid? That might make it harder to route the turbo inlet pipe using the GT airbox than a turbo one. That would probably be the main reason I'd consider not using it, not that it is too small and restrictive. I'm looking at a photo of one now and the inlet opening seems nice and large. Also seems to have the same type of snorkel that the turbo one has. Maybe all that's required is to make a less restrictive snorkel/cold air inlet, perhaps by punching down through the guard like I did.
