i'm sooo devastated.

on my way home from the gym i notice a family sized sedan - that looked a bit like a new camry or something coming up quick from behind me, so i think to myself "haa! you idiot, don't you know i just fitted my dump pipe the other day!?" and squirt it and easily outrun him on the straight.

but he keeps it up after i ease back so i do it again, but get caught behind a car so its a bit of a restless wait....then we round a bend and the car in front goes the other way, so i punch it up this quarter mile part near my house (i measured it :)) and gain 100 metres or so on him, he's clearly no competition on the straights, but round the bends he was keeping up pretty well and it's pissing me off!!

Though i have to say i wasn't going all that hard cos i have the stock wheels on at the moment and they're losing traction all over the place, especially in the cold weather, what i thought to be a f*cking camry or something had pretty freakin good handling. alllthough he did go waaaaaaay wide, like fully into the other lane around a tight bend that i hugged as if i was going 40ks (its got perfect camber on the inside).

SO annnnyway, i'm just cut, and feel like a little bitch. Maybe I should put my 9"s back on the rear and get some new suspension....

Oh and plus, i'm suuuuuure it was like a sport-optioned model this person was driving, whatever it was 10000% sure! :)

It sounds like you have big problems.

Yeah! that would be like letting a honda dust you down the quarter. :) :laughing-smiley-014:

Fark off you big knob.

I had no traction and 2nd into 5th doesnt work to well either. Not bad for a 15.5 at 114mph.

To start off with, that is EXTREAMLY difficult to read.

Sports model camrys etc dont have anymore power than standard. New camrys are also only 2.4l 4cyls now. The old sportivo v6s really werent that quick either.

Either way, I'm sure he did know you had a new dump pipe fitted. Hence he would have SURELY got a supercharger or something fitted specifically just to scare you a bit.

LOL what a funny thread...

First off: why are you racing a camry on a public road? I'm guessing you were doing a bit more than say 60km/hr :)

Save it for the track and by the sounds of things, fix your handling issues before you do decide to give it some around corners.

This thread is hilarious!!!

By far the funniest part is this:

"haa! you idiot, don't you know i just fitted my dump pipe the other day!?"

and this..

(its got perfect camber on the inside)???

Long story short you almost got pwned by a reasonably slow domestic car despite your obvious "race like" driving skill, new dump pipe and perfect camber (on the inside)

zomg....it's school holiday time right?

haa, yeah... cos the bit about the dump was obviously serious... and it IS pretty funny that you don't know what road camber is, but you go girl!!

and then...

zomg....it's school holiday time right?

ahhhh so that's why you're up late on the net trying to lure school kids to 'ride' with you....livin' the dream man. but yeah i did expect at least one tosser to 'ave a go' at what is a obviously (to most...) humorous post, so its all good.

annnnyway, nah definitely not an aristo or chaser, it had a more chunkier euro look to it, and those 'feline' style headlights all the manufacturers are doing these days.

noooo idea what the plates looked like, but it was white not black.

look it's just a clear indication that word is spreading about my stock 33 and people are out looking to beat me, and are trying to do so by any means possible. lanky is right, it was an aurion most definitely, and he probably HAD fitted a supercharger. Probably a nitrous kit too the sneaky f*cker... >_< .

haha, looking back, i don't know why i was even upset, i mean i was only cruising round corners in a 12 year old car with stock suspension and wheels on cheap tyres. :P

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
    • Thank you so much for the help
    • Yes it is ATF. I quote @Duncan "it takes a good synthentic auto trans fluid like Castrol Transmax Z" It's not a diff. It's a transfer case. Totally different thing. Yes, fluid will come out the sender hole. No you do not really need to drain it. Just pull the old, quickly poke the new, clean up and top up. But realistically, you should probably take the opportunity to change it anyway.
