Ok, so my stag is FINALLY going on the dyno tomorrow for a tune. What's the guess of RwKW (getting done at UAS in Sydney who only have a 2WD dyno) ??

1997 RS Four V

Mods are:

BOS 3" split dump pipe

Catco Metal Cat

Trust Power Extreme 2 cat back zorst

K&N Panel filter

R34 Intercooler

GTR Fuel Pump

AFC Neo computer

SITC computer

Turbotech mechanical boost controller (expect set to 10psi)

Full service has been done with new filters for everthing, spark plugs, timing belt and water pump so running sweet as a nut.

The prize will be bragging rights for knowing your stagea power figures :D:)

I am running 4wd, but Unique Auto Sports only have a 2wd Dyno so they will drop the driveshaft out. I am hoping for 150awkw, so would have to be 160 or so rwkw I guess.

Will be a big improvment over how it is now though, which is the main thing :)

What time are you going there, Stu? I live just around the corner from UAS and have also just booked my car in for some work there (for early next week), so I might come along, meet you and see how your car runs...

you can just undo 4 bolts and drop the front driveshaft, but you will lose about 10kw.

Less power transferred, is less power lost.

You will not loose power going to RWD, you would expect to gain a minor minor amount, being its not fulltime 4WD.

i think the SITC will make it hard to crack 200rwkw with less load points but who knows maybe we can go around and drop the temp probe in to a nice hot cuppa and crack 220rwkw.

EGA4IT made just over 200rwkw with an RS4S and powerfc with similar mods on the same dyno as a comparison.

OK, the results are in and the winner is .....

Tangles :(

Max power 152.9Kw at the rears running just under 10psi. This is a Series 1, not neo motor by the way. And an auto :P

I will scan the printout at some stage but Andrew at UAS did a nice job on the tune. Power deliver is smooth all the way through with no dips and boost holds constant the whole way. Go the $30 Turbotech controller :) A/Fs are around 12 or just under too so nice and safe.

They did not tune the SITC this time as worried about detonation with the side-mount intercooler and I am driving to Brisbane this weekend so I think they are playing it safe. With a FMIC, exhaust cam gear and some more tweaking on the afc and sitc I would hope to see another 20Kw. All in all pretty close to what I was expecting so can't complain about that.

Goldzilla ... sorry I missed your post as my PC at home is dead and I went down there first thing this morning. Is yours the green one coming in for a 'trial fitting' next week ?? :O

Speaking of fitting, the Power Extreme cat back zorst needed a fair bit of manipulation to line up unfortunately. I guess that is the price of mixing and matching local dump pipe and cat with jap exhaust. A word or warning for others I guess, the BOS dump and Catco cat may not line up exactly like factory

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
