Folks,

After purchasing a few more upgrades, i.e. a profec 2 and a safc2 to along with the full zorst and CAI, I am wondering if I need to upgrade to a fmic to hit 200rwkw. Not a big fan of cutting through the reo, the fan blades et al.

Ive heard that the stock intercooler is sufficient for power upto 210-220rwkw. Just thought I'll get some of your opinions on it. Cheers.

Get a front mount. If you are turning up your boost more than the standard you should get one.

Yes, it does make sense. I intend to run 10psi on a daily basis, so I'd suppose its necessary.

Hey mate how are ya..?

I put the justjap front mount kit in mine didn't have to cut the fan blades.....should have had a look while you were at my shop. the bar reo cut isn't major the only thing i didn't like was the 3inch hole under the washer bottle....

Will leave you a good trader rating as soon as i figure out how.

Cheers

Mike

r34GTT standard side mount would do for 200kw. but you'd want to hook up some kind of water spray kit for peace of mind (if you cant get something like a dedicated vent to get air to it constantly).

Stock r33 sidemount wont handle 200kw

If you wish, get an r34 sidemount which can handle up to 200-210kw (this is direct bolt on)

Otherwise get a fmic!!

well general consensus does seem to be to get in a fmic. Yea Mike I should have seen the fmic on yours. I intend to get a jjr fmic as well, but was apprehensive as I know another bloke who had to cut his fan blades, and of course the 3inch hole under the washer bottle.

Well thanks for your advice guys, I should hopefully make some progress in the next couple of weeks with regard to a tune etc and will keep you posted.

2 other options, avo do a front mount that is bolt on, uses the stock piping location flows really well but its $$ bout $1100 i think also i think theres another brand that do one, elsewise you can get arc side mounts that are twice as big as standard and are as good as a front mount plus side they are legal with a pod filter, but agian pricy

or just grab a fmic and get piping made up to go to the stock locations. probably cost around $150 for the justjap fmic and $200ish for an exhaust place to make some up for you. its around $45/m of piping - you could probably make it up yourself with some silicon bends etc. save yourself some $.

while we're on the subject, i've considered one of these coolers from just jap, but i dont know of anyone that's used one.

how do they flow?

how do they line up with the standard piping, and does the top outlet clear the reo/supports?

anyone used one?

I fitted one to stagea, it had the 3in outlets, 2.5inch would have been easier

i'm assuming you dont just mean for the sake of not using reducers. more info?

how did it flow? looks like the air does a u-turn in the core. is the core divided so it travels to the opposite end tank before returning?

i was using one of these style coolers a while back. they flow fine, but installation was a pain in the ass.

the top cooler pipe gets in the way of the standard blinker location (for r33 s1-1.5). you've got to chop out chunks from your blinkers for it to fit.

they're not worth the pain in the ass they are to install.

Look at EBAY international for an ARC side mount cooler

can find em for a "decent" price used, flush with kero/metho mix and pick the fins so it looks/flows like brand new

apparently very good coolers

or for a fmic, look at the Apexi coolers on ebay international, suited for 180sx

like the attached.

return feed, no chopping of the front bar reinforcement and an easy installation

they are a hybrid, ie half tubr&fin half bar&plate

good for over 220rwkw

Does fitting a fmic to a R33 series II not make it un-roadworthy due to the airbags????

ie the fmic screwing with the sensors???

I fitted a FMIC on R33 S2 and I never had any issues with the airbags

Though by "any issues with the airbags" I mean "the airbag ABS dash light never came on after the install of FMIC"

I have one of these on my car and experienced the same issue. Though they do seem to perform quite well once you get passed the installation. Ive been very happy with it.
