Relatively simple question, to which I fear there is not simple answer.

Anyway I have an R32 GT-R. Usual bullshit mods including pod filters & an oil cooler. Anyway I want to get cold air to the filters & have pretty much run out of room. My questions are two fold.

1. Does the R33 CAI fit on the 32's?

2. Has anyone managed to fabricate themselves something workable without hacking holes in the bumper etc.

Maybe u will have to bite the bullet and cut a hole or two under the air filters, and feed air up from the passenger side of the bumper.

This works pretty good on gtst's because there is room when u fit a front mount to run a pipe of some sort up to the pod.

It probably wont help you but i think the gtst standard air box gets its "cold" air from a spot that will actually be cold. Failing that ill probably cut a hole and mod the bottom of the airbox so it can feed directly to the bottom of the panel, and not so much tru the snorkel thing.

I can't use the area under the filters because the oil cooler is in there. It dumps plenty of heat. The most of the other areas in the front of the car are plugged full of intercooler, oil cooler, air conditioner heat exchanger, radiator, power steering radiator....

yeah I have the same problem and no easy answer. about the only one I can think of is remove headlight and have headlight duct. I have the same problem. big oil cooler in passenger side duct means no chance of getting air from there.

Baron, if I asked nicely could you see if your 33 CAI fits onto the top of the radiator in the 32?

I still use the airbox, I was going to cut a hole through bottom, and get some flexy pipe shit, and put 1 end into the airbox, and the other near the big hole in the front bar (to get away from the oil cooler)

I can't use the standard airbox - the AFM's won't fit.

Even then I can't see a spot for any flex piping as there aren't any spots left other than over the top of the bumper. I really don't want to hack holes in the thing.

perhaps move the bovs, from the drivers side and put the oil cooler there. bovs could find a new home in the engine bay perhaps.

or remove the ac(but keep the heater) and u might be able to get away with the oil cooler between the radiator and intercooler.

ac is overrated ;)

what oil cooler do you have? I have the trust one, and it sits a fair way back. I havn't measured for piping yet, but from a glance it looked like it would fit. but if you could fit a pipe through, i'd imagine that it would make a diference to your air temps even with pods.

HKS.

There may be some room to the centre of the blanking plate.

yeah no worries. actually I need to update my profile sort of. my silver 33 GTR was stolen, but I have another one which was just loaded onto a ship today. will be here in 2 weeks. I'll check then.

I got a hold of a stock airbox for mine to get rid of the pods. I'm switching to an apexi pfc with Z32 AFM's. Bolt holes are different but all I did was mark out new bolt holes, drilled em out and fitted longer bolts with locknuts on the back.

Just have to cut new intake pipes to turbos now when I get back.

Well that is great, but how do you get cold air to the airbox?

.............I'll get back to you on that one!!!

Seriously, my oil cooler is on lhs now, I used to have a smaller one on the rhs, in front of recirc valves(pipes removed). So I was going to open up the front of the box, duct in from below headlight, and divert some of the intake air from the lh lower intake(split it from oil cooler).

Have I lost anyone???

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
