Is anyone on the forums at the moment in the process of waiting for compliance from Dotars?? I'm up to my 4th week waiting for approval and plate...

Was wondering if anyone else is currently experiencing similar delays.

1-2 months ago I had similar delay.

There was a prob with the paperwork which contributed to the delay.

Hmmmmm, i guess that's the problem when you are the middle man waiting on a 3rd party. Compliance centre is being very tight lipped on the paperwork and not giving away anything to me, and Dotars is giving me the line of 'sorry we can't discuss these matters with the public' and i'm the piggy in the middle.

It's somewhat made my importing experience a little sour. It's not the delay I care about, but moreso the lack of open communication between 3rd parties and me, the owner.

Tough situation. They have your car and are in control but its pretty reasonable to want to know what's going on and be kept up to date.

If you used a broker you could see if they can contact the workshop as they'll want future business from them.

I feel like going down there as a locum and 'helping' them out a bit > my file put to the top > kick ass

Tap tap tap...

Lol, I'm sure you could whip them all into shape Terry. Terry for PM?

I should stop why whinging and just ride it out as there really isn't much I can do...... But then again, it's quality customer service that wins loyal customers. I have contacted my broker albeit by email (Iron Chef) but am awaiting a reply.

Chef if you're around PM me please.

Can't really expect much as you are the 3rd party, if you were the one that was applying for the compliance then by all means they would share the information
However they will see it as any 3rd party person could be calling up asking about information on the car and that's why it's tight lipped

Terry, how long has/is your new toy taking?

From what I hear dotars is a pretty small department so if they are behind, its everyone's tough luck.

Getting on to 4 wks I think Chris.

Funny how it always seems longer when you are impatient to drive it ;)

Meanwhile, I've bought 18" rims > IX Owners Manual in English > Missile switches > Website sticker for the rear wing > ICE > RE002 rubber > Number plate - its like being in withdrawal sigh...

Lol have my plates at home and car on a boat heading here... And got my license back 3 days ago after none for 8months,so yes a little keen!!! Was told 2 weeks for compliance paperwork processing, got my car through j-spec and i am in brisy.

Vehicle Imports section is dicking around with the consultative process for revising the Motor Vehicle Standards Act at the moment, and of course it takes too long/too much money to train up new people, so they just let response times blow out rather than maintaining their service standards.

Dave I think you've had a call from Alicia now?? That was the info I got from the workshop, and these sorts of things do happen from time to time, unfortunately. Give me a buzz if you want to discuss it further.

They could be dicking you around :P

I got my compliance/plates done within 2 weeks and that was close to the Xmas period too (early Dec 2013).

They may be! I am starting to find the wait a bit too long. I have called them twice and each time get the run around that the car has been inspected and the paperwork sent off. They have suggested i am being impatient.

Dotars says the same crap about not being able to declare information to a third party. What is with this?

didn't anyone tell you that all clean and straight-forward, private/broker import cars automagically get targeted for "random" inspection? thereby holding the process up by several weeks.

The Department of Infrastructure and Transport's "random" inspection process is very important to ensure that while your car is being inspected all of the accident grade, wound-back dealer cars are ushered through the process without obstruction.

also - are you suggesting they should be held accountable for delays far exceeding their alleged "15 working days from receipt" processing target? LOL - remember we're talking about the public circus.

;)

Hey mate,

My car has wen in compliance since the start of January at Japlink Motors in Sydney.

They explained to me that the paperwork had been sent off and they were waiting on DOTARS to get back to them. I have been doing the same and calling/emailing but they told me there is nothing they can do.

Something about DOTARS being under staffed since Christmas

Nice to hear from someone in a similar situation. My car arrived on jan 1st, so similar wait.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
