Does anyone work/know someone who works for the Commonwealth bank?

In particular thier Fraud area.

Ive had a massive issue today with my account being wiped clean by some muppet who's somehow stolen a replacement ATM card from my mailbox, increased the drawing limits and gone on a spree across 3-4 ATM's in a certain suburb of Melb... ripping all my cash out to leave me with about $5 to my name :P

No idea how this could have occured with all the "measures" banks have in place. its utterly beyond me and im not happy as i was sitting at freaking home all day yesterday so it sure as hell wasnt me drying my account out.

Ive lodged a "case/claim" with the CBA Fraud area, and they said it could be upto 3-4 weeks, if not more.

So that really farks me up.

The amount was quite substancial, and as im going to be overseas in 4 weeks... i was really needed the cash!!!

So if anyone knows someone that can help out, i would greatly appreaciate it.

Cheers

how did they get your pin?

make sure you state in your claim that you have not given your pin to anyone, and destroyed any papers that contained it..

my gf also is in a similar situation with a HUGE amount of her money taken from a branch 2 days ago...

and suprise suprise, she is also with CBA..

i also had a bizzare situation winth CBA, with money being taken from my account...luckily i got most of it back....

they really need to get their act together!!!

CBA cards if they send you a new one say if it was stolen or lost (not sure if this is why u got a new one ash) they send you the PIN in a seperate tear apart package thing on a different day... which is stupid.

Altho to activate it you usually have to ring and answer some pretty intimate questions about your spending habbits... like what your account balance was the day before you rang... or what you last used your card to buy etc.

No idea how the person got my PIN :P

I've never told anyone my PIN and i made sure i was beyond clear on that today.

Funny thing is the ATM's the cash was taken from are a 35-45min drive from my house. So its not even local to me.

I looked @ the CBA logs of my account (the rep showed me), and someone tried to change it (i think) yesterday over the counter and failed.

However they succedded in increasing the withdraw limits to a far larger amount than what i set it at via thier call centre.

Still doesnt explain how they changed/accessed the PIN though, so the CBA have a fair bit of explaining to do as i'll be reporting it to the Police tomorrow aswell.

The only thing i can think of is the PIN mail letter was swiped from the mailbox, along with the card itself.

I've been having random letters go missing lately... so i'll be getting a PO box... *once* when i get my cash back to i can pay for one :(

That's ridiculous

the card obviously has to be activated and all that by you before it can be used but you'd already know this.

Hope it all works out :(

Dunno anyone at the bank though.

Hope it works out aswell :)

They will have video of the ATM's, and the over-counter attempt.

So that will clear up the fact it sure as hell wasnt me... i was asleep till 1pm yesterday as i worked till 6am Thur morning lol.

Yeah, the replacement card must have come. But i didnt ask them for a new PIN.

They said that when the new card came, that the PIN would just transfer over once i used the card for the first time...

But i never saw the card... so maybe they stuffed up and sent the PIN aswell? And the muppet card thiefter hit paydirt! :P

its possible... definately worth looking into... cause if they farked up and sent your pin then they need a good hard reeming.

i remember they did the same thing to me years ago but the spastics sent them both on the same day so the PIN and my new card were in the mailbox at the same time

everytime I've gotten a new card, and activated it over the phone...the questions are pretty basic...d.ob, phone number and sometimes the security word that you set....nothing very 'intimate'

theyve always asked me transaction history...

and how many people are going to know i spent $13000 at sexyland on a real doll?

lol

this is a joke btw so shut up in advance.

Sorry to hear bro that sux...

Hope they sort it out and it doesn't take that long... 4 - 6 weeks i can understand they need to do some investigation but still cant take that long, to review recorded phone calls etc, they should be a good indication i would have thought.

Fark! They cant track the spending at all? Or was it all simply withdrawls from an ATM?

You would hope CBA are on the ball and you get your money back.

I know ANZ are great like that....or if it was acredit card then you woudl be covered against fraud. But savings ? Shit :P

I hope they sort it out. Was just 4 large ATM withdraws and thats it

Either way, im gonna switch banks after this i think.

I've heard ANZ are a bit better from a few people over the years. So this will push me over i think.

Or at least chat to other banks and see what security they offer, as quite frankly for someone to be able to do this... i believe, shouldnt really be possible at all.

So the CBA have a bit to answer for

Try another bank, Commonwealth bank are.........UMM.I'll keep the comments to myself, but when working around with bank, I get the most complaints from customers with commonwealth.

So Ash, i just got a new Mastercard from being shit faced in Shep and entering the wrong pin number 3 times and the card beign confiscated. If you want to steal the card im up for a wild weekend. And i will just claim it all under insurance and stolen card ... even stevens :P

I hope they sort it out. Was just 4 large ATM withdraws and thats it

i have worked in banking for sometime now (switching over to it from mech. engineering field) and have had some experience in internet fraud area and now work in operations as a senior consultant so i guess i am entitled to an opinion on this; at the end of the day most banks offer similar security but amongst the top 4 big banks ANZ is a very good option from many angles..

Heck, even as a dead stock car, things will still break, but the more power, the more everything else will let go easier. From gearbox gear sets, to extra stress on the chassis/mounts, more stress on diff, axles, tailshaft, even the suspension mounts. Check out the motorsport build that last year went to a Bosch motor sport ABS setup, and now can brake so damn hard it's twisting mounts for suspension/subframe etc. Now if the brakes can do it, imagine what happens with super grippy tyres and 800hp in a low gear...   Shit, I'm presently out fixing the girlfriends daily driver that rarely sees past 3,000rpm and is used to cart the dogs around in. Everything WILL break. If you don't want it to break, don't drive it. And then laugh, as it will still break without even being driven!
    • ECUMaster is an Australian company from memory, been around a while, and seem to actually play really well on more unique engine setups. Seems to be more of them being used in the states, and they seem to support more cylinders than most others.   My opinion on stock ECU/Nistune with he AFM, is you can tune around the issue of stalling. It's still a bit of a band-aid, and not the most perfect smoothest setup, but it can make it drive able and not an absolute PITA. But you're still compromising. A vent to atmosphere BOV has the same issue as no BOV with regards to the AFM. Both make the ECU think more air is entering the engine than there really is. And I can't find any hard science/decent evidence that supports the claims all the "you MUST run a BOV of some sort of you'll blow the turbo up". About the only one some people can give of why is "lag between gear shifts", and that is only an issue when your boost source for the waste gate is pre throttle body. I ran my boost source for the TD07S off the inlet manifold. Didn't have weird boost spiking issues, didn't have boost control issues, and on a gear shift the wastegate slammed shut, which meant all exhaust gases would be keeping it going round and round and not waiting for the wastegate to shut again when I stepped off the clutch and back on the loud pedal. It came back on boost in the next gear pretty much instantly.   ECU / tune / BOV choice I think really comes down to a lot more factors than just what you've stated. And personally, especially for daily driving, recirc setup for the BOV, or no BOV. I dislike the really loud BOV when everyone is taking off from the lights etc.
    • Hey guys, as the title reads I would like the buy a S1 GTT OEM lip for my skyline. Located in Australia. Happy to drive to pick it up (interstate I don't mind)
    • All motors are consumables. This thing costs $250,000-500,000 and makes 640hp/430 KW, naturally asipirated. It has a competitive advantage in being more reliable than other cars it competes against. They rate these engines in hours before rebuilds. Are you going to out-engineer half million GT3 car manufacturers in a garage? People really need to be honest with what they are going to do, and remember that 99.9% of the people on the internet are not honest with how they use their car and what it holds up to and how much power it makes and how easy/hard it was. Anyone worrying about the block limit of anything is the kind of person that will be unable to do a single track day, for example, perhaps not even a single session. Build the kind of car you would want to have if you could never tell a single soul about it and nobody would ever know.
    • For anyone who finds this via a search  An s14 alternator connector and Silvia Fusebox/350z headlight connector can be used. Get the non pigtail version of the alternator connector so you can use 12 gauge wire for the pump.    I am using  https://ebay.us/m/ToEEmM And https://conceptzperformance.com/czp-xenonhid-headlight-connector-w-pigtails-8-pin-male-nissan-350z-03-08-z33-or-jdm-fusebox-for-silvia-s14-czp-26060-m-8pin_p_19166.php
