I was wrapped with the day, and I'm pretty happy with 15th on the back track!!! 1300cc of raw power (54kw at they fly from factory 10 years and 200,000km ago) was a lot more fun than I thought it could be. And for the people who thought I cut those chicanes, I quote Duncun

"and the starlet and rx7 carried brilliant speed through the chicanes,"

and this one for fun

"and I loved the starlet 4 wheels off the ground over the jump every time biggrin.gif"

:) But seriuosly next one I won't have a matchbox car. Something with four times the power and driving the right wheels, forty times as fun maybe?

Congrats to all the three NA guys, I think we all managed to be in the top half of the field (1.47 me, 1.46 drift majik, and a 1.38 or something ridiculos buy duncan) holding it to all you Barrometric cheaters (I'm just Jealous)

I have to thank everyone who organised the day, and the volunteers did a great job, especially those time keepers. I am buying some timing equipment soon, so I think I will lend it out next time to help out those time keepers!!!

Is there any handicap prizes?

Just joking.......but seriously

P.S. are there any shots of that hump, and If there isn't, how far was I off the ground buy?

P.P.S. I think I'll opt for tyres bigger than 165's next time :)

RX7 owns Skylines I see

To be honest, great RACE car, but the money that was in it, is not far off the money thats in the Dutton rally winning GT-R which happens to be 3 seconds faster around wakefield..... wasn't really a fair car to compare to all of the STREET skylines

Very nice car though, still would love to own one

I was a bit suprised that a 1300cc toyota starlet with no mods, 60,000 k old tyres and standard worn suspension was as fast as some of the GTR's :)

I think Turismo did a 1:47 in it. I am really glad I was not in the car fro that lap! a 1:47 in my gtst felt fast enough...

He was second fastest on the skid pan too. He must have done some speed through the chicanes. I wonder if he took any shortcuts... I know there was a couple 'available'. I think I only did a 1:47.
he is just a very gifted driver. he always shows me up ;)
On the second course of the skidpad, he actually got the fastest time... beating the RX7 by about a second...

He did it twice, but screwed up the garage, and i told him to have another go, and he cracked it perfectly

Can i PLEASE give out style points next time?

Turismo did some awesome driving in the Starlet and I agree with Nic, I'm glad I wasn't in the car with him LOL

How funny is that? Starlet takes out Skyline event hahahhahahaa*snort*hahahahahahaa

He should be proud

hahahah you snorted :)

When I was marshalling the gate at the back track - he came in so hot and with alot of speed and just locked up and then slid all crossed up, almost out of the gate! was freaking funny but the grin he had on his face was priceless!

Yeah have to say Turismo almost drove the wheels off that thing lol :ban: a lot better than I am.

Hahaha, it was funny watching the little Starlet take off from the line, chirp seconds, then lock up the rears just as he was about to enter the first chicane EVERY TIME.

I was joking to my sister the day before that it would be funny if we drove down and entered in her new Mazda3, and managed to do the same thing that Turismo did. A small car is great for those tight chicanes, and a good driver (which pretty much rules me out, and my sister isn't anywhere near experienced enough) can make up for the lack of power and handling mods.

Turismo proved that the speed you can carry through those sections can quite easily make up for the lack of acceleration and speed between the corners.

Absolutely. Great effort. I think I needed to use first gear more out the back. Also looking at Turismo's times he actually did one faster but I think hit two cones from memory and they are a 5 second penalty each. I guess you could say it was a handling track, not a power track.

I got 6th fastest on back track w00000000000000000000t  (if duncan didnt go I would have been 5th :) )

who was car 20? dammit - you beat me by .22!!!!

Mark (Tuk Tuk) was 20 in my GTR, he pulled a 136 I thought, but must have been 135 + cone tap in the garage (didn't knock it over).

Oh nice, Cefiro gets 3rd officially... man have to say it again that back track is bloody awesome!!!!!

Great driving by everyone....CHUBBS for pulling his finger out on the last run and getting the 1:40!!! See a bit of a rev up and you go great guns....

I actullay got the vid of me doing the reversing on the skid pan, pretty funny viewing actually!!

Cant wait for next one!!

    • Well, my new WMI system took much longer to finalize. I actually missed my dyno appointment last Friday and lost my 150$ deposit. I'll be going back in the next week or two.  To sum it up. I only kept the AEM tank from my old setup. I replaced the AEM pump with a higher flow/pressure ProMeth 30GPH pump. I also swapped over to a 6AN low pressure feed line to the pump from the tank. There's also a pressure switch you cannot see on the pump high pressure line.    This is feeding 6x 200CC direct port nozzles and 1x 500CC Pre Throttle body nozzle. All fittings are Swagelok, because well why not. I also have a 300PSI pressure sensor up front.    I now have my Haltech ECU controlling everything. I start my pump with a basic relay at 5PSI and deadhead it. I then PWM a 3000CC methanol Injector to control flow starting around 10psi. The pressure switch in the trunk, along with my tank level are safeties before I ever get to 10PSI, and then I use my pressure sensor upfront as a secondary safety to cut the WMI and corrections in case the injector blocks or a line ruptures.  Wish me luck on the dyno!
    • So, I'm back with bad news. There's no jack long enough on this planet that will reach the front subframe. If by some chance there is, it would weigh 200lb's.  I purchased a long reach jack... The damn thing weighted 120lb's and was massive. Didn't even come close, was still short at least a foot. It was a pain, but I brought it back. Next I decided HA! No problem, I'll get an Extra long reach jack. Well, I couldn't lift the box... It must have weighed 160LB's and luckily there was an open box in store. I took measurement and was still nowhere close.  Sadly I've lost hope and have accepted defeat.
    • Thanks for that tip, niZmO_Man. I think the battery is OK. It's quite a new one, but I'll check. Last time I needed a new battery, everything electronic was fine, except that there wasn't enough current to turn over the starter. I decided to order one of the partial AV system translation CDs from Car Audio Workshop in NZ. That might have some effect, or help me diagnose the date problem. 🤞
    • I suppose it was relatively stock too, the JZ motor handle most mods thrown at them without even breaking a sweat
    • I saw your intro update, are you sure you've actually had a starter motor failure? You mention it could be the alarm causing it. I'm assuming you've got a no start issue, but what are the exact symptoms, as there could be a few reasons it has stopped wanting to start.
