I think I am leaning more towards PSI... ...

Think I've picked up a profec B II so I won't need a gauge really as you would hope a EBC will hold perfect boost everytime lol, and I am not mounting it on the dash... Hiding it in the glovebox me thinks

Wayne you will find that the Profec B Spec II needs to be tuned properly otherwise it can cause spikes.....you can always have a gauge to monitor whats happening

I hate tacky sh!t in car interiors, no where decent to mount a gauge in a GTR other then the steering collum without it looking sh!thouse even then it doesn't look that good... :) Argh

thats why they mount them on the bonnet, nooo that looks tacky to. theres a decent mounting point over the a/c. just rip out the old 1s there

anyone got a garage out the stix i can start storing random 260c's i find for sale for a later rebuild operation

spotted this, no electric windows or psteering though.

the charge to do so was $15!! ffs

then she proceeded to tell me that i have been conditionally approved for a credit card up to 8g and asked if

i was interested, my reply '' if you waive that $15 fee ill consider it''

she did too haha stupid peanut, i dont want no credit card hehe f*k em

No way am I molestering a GTR by removing the factory gauges... And krishy the std gauge is already almost maxed out with the amount of boost I am running atm so when I am running anymore boost the std gauge wont be of any help aha :)

You could possibly consider what I did, buy an aftermarket oil pressure and turbo in psi gauge and mount them where the GTR clock is (lets face it, who the frig needs a clock?)

DSC00251.JPG

which is what they look like at night, here is a wider shot - i chose VDO gauges since they look similar to the standard gauges in regards to color, font and font size;

Which is the wider angle and then this is a daytime shot (before fitting gauges)

one gauge removed already and the other one still connected. benefit of having the gauges mounted there are that theyre totally legal and dont require you to sacrifice an aircon vent (i did have a water pressure gauge mounted in the right hand aircon vent but i removed it because a) it was broken and b) this is australia thanku, i need my damn ac..)

Or, you could mount extra gauges in the glovebox :)

i'll be drawing up a plan on friday as per my dash space (incorporating a larger switch panel as well) so will knock it into digital form then

also depends on how rugged u need it to be - you're gonna be using ur 31 for strictly track work eh? means u can probably get rid of the majority of your centre console and fit a 3x3 gauge display, fit it and the entire dash in red led's

or you can have the glovebox with everything that would be relevant to a copilot/tuner and just have the fundamentals for the driver to worry about. or you could drill loads of holes in the dash to fit as many gauges as you need

but then again, if you're racing, some of the a pillar gauges arent too bad, and you can mount gauges to the sides of the console in most cases without creating too much of a crash hazard..

depends on if u want it legal or not >:pirate:

strictly track only. there's not going to be any heater controls / vents / stereo / etc. Got an RSM, now just need to get a heap of gauges that are the same and can give me the info i need (Boost, Oil Press, Oil Temp, Water Temp, Volts, Fuel level (for the cell, thats if i can put a sender in there somehow). Maybe a med sized tach, got the RSM giving me speed/tach for now anyway

If you're going racecar 100%, get mechanical gauges and mount them where theyre most visible to you. Some would argue electronic are best but I prefer to have each gauge as independant as possible, and preferably to not rely on the electrical system.

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
