I fitted a new set of rims to my car about a month or so back, Lenso D1R, in Hypersilver. They aren't Japanese brand name wheels, in fact I replaced a set of genuine Volk Rays with them, but they look better than the old VR rims - 18" vs. 17" - and are fairly light weight.

was gonna buy a set of d1r's in white for the s14, but when the works showed up with such tough offsets... sorta couldnt resist, lol.

It's all a matter of personal preference/taste, but most of those examples look like absolute poo to me! Not a fan of the VIP style wheel.

haha, vip isnt a style many people are into.

cool thing about andrews new ride is that any sort of wheel from xd9's to piaa's would look freakin awesome on it. id just be inclined to go the way of vip.

Nah, especially since I am not going to absolutely slam it (in fact am only droppping it an inch all round) VIP would be a waste - and yeah I am with Matt here - imho most of the VIP wheels look like ass.

Got pics of your new wheels Matt? Are you coming to poker at Burger's next Friday night?

Cool.

Gaaaaaaaaaaah I just realised that we are out of non-rotting bacon

Problem is, my car is out on North East Road getting some free advertising and the wife is out, so jumping on my tredley is the only option.

So, do I wait for Scandy to arrive to chauffer me to Woolies to get some bacon, or will my hunger outweigh my laziness and I jump on the bike (given I have already done 3km this morning when I dropped my car out to NE Rd). Feel the burn.

I am pretty hungry

If you're going to slam it I reckon spokes will look awesome... like:

Well I am starving - so I am going to head to the kitchen to cook up a double decker 2 egg and tons of bacon plus bbq sauce sanga for lunch .... mmmmmmmm

heh great minds. i had one of those a couple hours ago, but i also had fried mushroom in butter, fresh parsley and a slice of cheese to top it off >

and runny yolk ftw

Give me a couple of hours mate, got a few jobs out in the backyard to do - mixed in with watching Port try to keep their finals hopes alive - then I'll take some pic's out in the sun... how good is it to see the sun again!?

Nice choice on the new car too dude.

Yeah I'll be there mate. Had an impromptu game at my house on Fri night actually, 7 of our regular crew rocked up, Trent came along too. Finished $15 up.

Can't argue with that logic mate. I could have lived with some Work rims no worries at all. I had the option to go for brand name wheels and cheaper average rubber, or average wheels and good rubber, the latter option suited me best. $1550 in rubber and about $1400 odd for the rims, anodised wheel nuts, and freight.

The XD9 is a nice looking wheel, and even better yet, they are nice and light. Ugly wheels are one thing, but ugly heavy wheels are just poo fullstop. Mind you, some of the quality VIP style wheels are probably lighter than the cheap crap 'race' wheels.

do you have pics of them on 32? interested to see how much the back rims hang out the guards.

Same size wheels just the D1R's.

I was going to lower it 20mm at the rear and about the same on the front and that would of just tucked them in. But with a bit of suspension and guard work they'll fit easssssssssssssy

    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
