Which one have you got (M or LS)? How much of the reo had to go?

PM sent

Having a poke around, seems to be a real pain trying to find an affordable FMIC that doesn't require modification to the reo (which is apparently defectable and could result in insurance claims being voided ).

I've heard mixed reports from people on the JustJap stealth ones (some say they got it to fit, most others say it requires modification - including justjap). I've seen some posts say that particular Greddy FMICs fit without reo mods, and same for the Blitz FMIC kits, and AVO FMIC kits - but I always seem to find other posts contradicting it. Either way, it's enough to drive you nuts in an attempt to stay within the law.

That's the only thing that's stopped me thus far is the reo needing modifcation!

why buy an off the shelf kit then?

Just jap cores are cheap to buy and are just as good as expensive brand name ones

then all ya get done is get some pipe work made up, so nothing has to be modified

if you are careful how you mod the reo you will get away with it. i needed to take about 15mm off the bottom to get mine to fit. rather than just take it off the centre i trimmed it off an even distance the whole way along, and then painted it. It looks completely standard, the only way you would be able to tell is if you had two side by side.

+1 on that, cutting up the reo or bar doesn't jump to mind of things I'd like to do.

Also, was quite amazed when ringing around at tyre prices today. KU31 in 265/35/18

Wheel Worx - $275

Adelaide Radial - $305

Bridgestone - $325

Beaurepaires - $410

I knew Beau would be shit, but wtf!

i reckon the front bar and the skirts are cool, but the fake diffusers on the rear bar is a bit over the top

popped by andrews place before work this arvo, and went for a quick spin in munro's 35, f**k those things are awesome. relentless acceleration, and it seems so effortless...

... how much does a left testicle sell for these days?

he also seemed to find my car rather tough, quite a compliment from someone that owns such awesome machinery.

sorta glad i went with 17 over 18, prices are retarded for 18's.

bit of left field here, but does anyone have hook ups in the truck accessories game

need some rubber mudflaps for the patrol, to cut down to size (the gay nissan plastic ones that have all the metal support framework rust over the years decided to break on the weekend - seems they dont like getting buried in sand and then pulled at funny angles when the truck is extracted)

Anyone know where I can get bushes for the rear upper control arms and tie rod ends? My mechanic rang nissan who told him that they only sell the rods with the bushes O.o

Also after a fuel filler cable/handle set with mounting brackets

-D

Edit - only posting here because the work is going to be done tomorrow

Speak to Shock Systems on NS.com, he sells all the bushes, and he's pretty cheap and in Adelaide.

thx for the heads up, but it seems like he only does web based stuff ;\

ideally i'd like to find someone in adelaide where we can get the bushes tomorrow and do the install

otherwise i guess i'd have to deal with the web so it'd be worth dealing with him i guess

its a shame he has no mob number

When i did my FMIC install, the only Reo mods i had to do was drill 2 holes...which is apparently legal, its only if you are cutting metal out that it is illegal. As these are holes that bolts are going through, it is replacing the metal that gets drilled out. Also the FMIC i used, uses the stock piping, only had to mod the front bar a bit for the piping.

    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
