Just a few pics i snapped while i was over there and stuck in my Gallery.

Was a great trip. Went over there with Lowthy and his bro/bros mate. Great people to go on a trip with as well.

Also we were out with a 5th member - a friend who is living there at the moment.

I was amazed at the quality of food, simply nothing you can even dream of here in a "Thai" restaurants that ive ever been to.

And was just amazing the price aswell, so cheap.

Big thumbs up to Sidey/Jason. Not many would know him around here, those on LS1 and FA will know him well.

I reckon he made the trip sensational. Showed us many great eating places, and as i love food... it was win-win.

Knew all the clubs/bars that were good and generally a bloody champion :P

So enough talking.

Onto some pics

lol... you went to thailand and didn't take any pics of 1JZ cefiros? pffft.

actually when I saw this thread I thought it'd be full of your misadventures with ladyboys. :D

Headed to Bangkok, down the Sukhumvit area. Staying on Soi 18 if your more detailed with it all.

Was dodgy in some respect yes, but meh. I cant say i felt unsafe or anything. If anything i felt quite a bit safer than being in some places of Melb.

Not everywhere is the same as Australia, and than god as the world wouldn't be worth exploring if that was the case :D

I only saw one Cefiro the whole time actually.

And i didn't have my camera on me at the time... should i have been expecting to see 100's? :D

Sorry to disappoint you Shan, no ladyboy adventures!

I recognise a few of the pics from my holiday there last year. We were at The Pennisula which was on the main river in Bangkok, then headed down to Pattaya Beach but were in the country for 3 days.

Has been quiet without you! :D

I was there at bangkok earlier this year too. Made a trip to the HKS thailand, was quite a mission getting there as the taxi driver did not exactly knew where it was. However, he immediately know where it was after i pointed a ricey HKS sticker on his cab , lol. No skylines at the HKS shop , but s15's 350z's with rb26 in them with huge single conversions.

Like Ash said, food there is simply amazing, so is the price. Recommended holiday destination ~

oh thailand. what a great place for a cheap getaway. i was in phuket, and the islands.

as mentioned, best thai food you'll ever have. and great seafood. so fresh and cheap. and how about their fruit. oh man, i wanna go back

some of their 'hot' dishes made my eyes water. upside - nothing here is too hot anymore :D

One thing i didnt try was the fruit actually... some of it looked really interesting.

But yeah, without knowing whats good and whats not, i dont want to go eating something that might not agree lol.

Yeah, there was one hot dish that made me know i was alive... twice... :sorcerer: :P

Khun Jeng says :

I forgot to tell u to go to my shop in Siam Square opp. MBK and Discovery Centre;s....also next time go to the north of thailand and stay in my house - although I thinnk its not quite finished!

Sukhumvit is the main road...so thats like the whole of the man city! soi 18 is the 18th street off Sukhumvit...big dodge....

As for Food...

MK Duck is the best...no1 can doubt that

You have a shop over there? lol! SIF not tell me that last week.

Was @ MBK on two occasions, so i would have had a look :worship:

Ye, i get how the roads work, took a bit of getting used to though.

The public transport absolutely shits on Melb though.

Man the Airport is just huge, my pics dont even begin to give you an idea... its just massive.

Its beyond big, takes nearly 15mins walk from the check-in to the boarding gate if you don't use the travelator things.

how much did you spend roughly for the whole trip? how was it there not speaking thai? did your companions speak thai or does everyone sorta understand english there?

thought it was all 3rd world over there, didnt know they had any decent cities lol. get to see any live muay thai?

Didnt need to speak Thai - Although my mate who lives there knows a reasonable amount as he lives there, so that helped a lot.

But most people speak english enough to get by we found.

You can pick up basic things if your good at that sort of thing.

Knowing how to explain in their language where your hotel is makes a MASSIVE difference ;)

There are a couple of websites for basic phrases, and hotel staff will help you if you ask.

I spent in the 5 days - $730 or there abouts. Massages, lunches/dinners, trains/taxi's, drinks/snacks/mid-arvo beers, also night club entries (the after 1am places have cover charge to pay off the cops).

We also partied pretty hard a few nights which was cheaper than Melb by a long shot, but still not exactly free.

Depending on how much shopping and stuff you purchase will dictate how much you spend i reckon. Stuff is cheap, but if you go on a rampage you will rack up a few hundred there easily.

I wouldnt call it 3rd world, but its poverty and riches living side-by-side almost.

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
