Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone knows a good workshop to go to for an engine install in Canberra?

It would be an RB26DETT into an r32 GTR. The only quote I've had so far was 2K, which is an absolute insult. It only cost $400 dollars to get it taken out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By the way I only want a quote on labour.

Call skyline performance,

Tell them keith sent you and ask what they can do it for.

They quoted me much less that everyone else. And i am really happy with the speed they do things and how they handle things.

They do work out of a shed but its clean and well presented.

My number if you want more info is 040758758

Skyline performances number 0412 369 176

They only do skylines what more could you want.

Give Trojan a call

Good call! (excuse the pun). Trojan are reasonable priced and what's more, will LOOK AFTER YOU NO MATTER WHAT. Anyone I know who has taken there car there will only trust it with them henceforth.

It's funny you say that as Ed who owned Integra now works for at autotech for Peter...

Ed never owned Integra, Anthony was the main man in charge and the cause of Integra's 'demise' in my opinion.

Ed was/is a good guy, did the work well and left the billing to those responsible for it.

In my experience

ED = polesmoker that charges me $600 for a "full tune" that was done in the whole of 1 and 1/2 hrs . the dyno printout showed it was only the 3rd run on the dyno. I was silly enough to trust him and pay up front before I drove the car(BTW No receipt, cash just went straight into his pocket) . I jumped in the car took it for a quick fang , knock up to 110 , yay . Rang said poovta up he says can't fix it today and to meet him at the dyno first thing in the morning. So I show up at agreed time, he shows up an hour or so later with another customer and says he'll fix'er up when he's finished with other bloke. after waiting 3hrs he comes over tells me he's out of dyno time and he'll have to road tune it. we go for a quick drive all he does is take 3 degrees out of the whole top end of the map, leaving me with a car that feels not much better than it was before. :end rant:

If it was you that got ripped like that you wouldn't be to happy either.

Well he did make some of the billing decisions as he quoted me one price and then after the work was done tried to charge me 2.5 x the original quote... and that was him not someone else so i think he certainly does take some of the blame. In terms of the work done i have never had any problems but in saying that i only let him do a one minor service for me and never took it back as i didn't want to be ripped off again.

I think in terms of the friendship I had with Integra and the way I fell out with them, I potentially got f@#ked over harder than anyone there, excluding one person.

After some events though it did open my eyes that Ed was often "overruled" per se on pricing quoted to people by others involved with the business. I also believe he was "directed" by said others to cut short work etc which assisted in some reputation ruining.

However I have also heard since he has moved to Autotech things are 1000% better as hes not being forced to push cars in and out as fast as possible and "upper management" at autotech focus on a quality outcome, rather than trying to make some quick money.

But in saying that, I could be completely wrong as well.

Its just sad that some of the most prominent and proficient places in Canberra ended up going down the shitter.

has anyone here had their power fc tuned in canberra?? if so , where abouts and at what price ..?

i heard autotech can tune them, however I am not too sure about price??

also, is it necessary to have the hand controller of the power fc for it to be tuned at a workshop?

cheers..

I'll add my two cents-

Canberra is a small place with a limited number of workshops- hence limited competition - higher prices and workshops can let some slip : "cuz where else are you going to go".

When the time comes - I’m thinking Sydney or Melbourne - high number of workshops – better competition, closer to suppliers means better price and work.

Mind you someone down here had a bad experience with CRD so it just shows that even the “best” can slip up.

Cheers

Pete at Autotech tuned my power FC and did an awsome job.

I want to say, I have the car booked in to Autotech on the 4th Jan. They re open on the 2nd and I plan on going in and speaking with Pete, as Ed took the booking and was planning on doing my car. Why am going to speak with Pete? Well, I dont want to insult Ed, but a friend has had nothing but problems since Ed got a hold of his AE86. Im not saying it was his fault, but after all that has gone wrong, if Pete isnt willing to do the work himself, then im going else where. My friend is onto his 3rd blown head gasket since Ed touched it. Hence his nickname of Ed Gasket.

Its just too bad a history for the time and money gone into the car.

But, Pete is da bomb and it would be hard to trust another workshop to do the work.

My 3c worth.

Maybe when you speak to Pete you could find out for sure if the AE86 problems were really Ed's fault? I accept you're not saying that is the case, but there is a strong implication and I don't think it would be fair to let that stand if it's not the case. As we all know Ed and Pete are in the difficult position of having to deal with a lot of modified cars that customers bring to them to sort out; many I've seen are just a dog's breakfast, although I'm not suggesting the particular AE86 falls into that category. It's a risky business as people sometimes expect miracles and Ed and Pete are only human.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
