_Ryan_
Hey, need to know ASAP, are 040's a straight forward fitment? and changing only the pump wont affect AFR's will it? -Ryan Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/191347-040-into-stagea/ Share on other sites
mitchy_
straight forward? yes and no.. it will go in with a small amount of modification to the brackets.. but its a bitch of a job. shouldnt affect AFR's as long as your old pump wasn't almost dead. Brycey
isnt the 044 a direct fit? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/191347-040-into-stagea/#findComment-3442783 Share on other sites
mitchy_
i dont think either bosch pumps are a 'direct fit' but the 044 would probably be easier being a smaller pump. if you want a direct fit pump, buy a nismo one Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/191347-040-into-stagea/#findComment-3442797 Share on other sites
Terminal
I have an 040, it was a pretty simple job, you just need to get a hose clamp to hold it onto the pump cradle base. I haven't had any changes to my fuel consumption which would lead me to believe my A/F ratio hasn't changed. GoldZilla
isnt the 044 a direct fit? Nope, not a direct fit - I bought one and it couldn't be fitted. I've compared it to the standard factory pump, and the 044 is almost double the size. Best bet is (probably) a Walbro upgrade pump or the Nismo pump - at least they'll come a lot closer to being a direct fit. The Walbro, if purchased from Unique Autosports, comes with a fitting kit to make it easier. wolverine
the 044 is bigger (longer) than the 040 just to correct a previous post. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/191347-040-into-stagea/#findComment-3444677 Share on other sites
Duncan
just be careful with the walbro, make sure they check flow all the way up to redline. I put one in and it ran out of flow up high, very dangerous - and have heard of others having this problem too. nick, I am surprised they couldn't fit the 044, maybe take it to someone a little more creative/adventurous. I have a dyno sheet and the AFR's stayed nice and stable all the way through, so the Walbro looks to be doing its job. The car dropped 10kW at the wheels because it now receives the right amount of fuel, but at least I won't have to worry about issues with leaning out. I was surprised they couldn't put in either, Duncan! It IS a fair bit bigger, as I mentioned (I will post photos comparing the 044 to the factory unit), but I assumed they would have taken that into account and sort something out. Oh well... Oh, have you got a PFC for yours yet, and if so which one (R33 or R34)? unique1
thats the 040 in the stock cradle and it fits perfect, just one or two hose clamps around it and it is a perfect and cheap solution Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/191347-040-into-stagea/#findComment-3453500 Share on other sites
