The BA XR6 Turbo's are quite a good alrounder, a bit nose heavy to drive at times. You can get them pretty cheap too cos they flooded the market with them. 15-20K for fairly low kms. What size car are you after? Price? short range driving or longer stints?

1998-2000 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4

cost you about ~13k, twin turbo v6 with awd, and a 5spd tiptronic box.

looks good

14.4 stock 1/4 mile

~400km/tank

has air bags and abs

has power windows

they go up to 2002 models

mitsubishi can service them for a decent price

parts are common as anything in new zealand

Hahaha, I'm really that my fuel goes on the company card. Unfortunately power normally eqauls fuel, and that can change a lot depending on how you drive it, from my experience. It used to cost $50 to fill the corolla (vortex 95) and I could get as much as 600km out of the tank depending on how i drove it.

I'm pretty sure my mechanic now has a licence to import them....

You could always just get a bunky or motorcycle, my bike costs $15 to fill up and lasts the week :D Catching public transport is the pits, Ryan, y r u paying so much for the bus? an all day ticket costs $3 when ur a student.

I think it's 4 zones from Atwell to Busport.. $4.20, but $3.15 with SmartRider (25% discount from cash) - plus im not a student

Aha, that's why it's so expensive. When i stopped being a student, it became cheaper for me to drive (bus and train took too long, and time is money).

Brad, Subaru's, though reliable, are relatively expensive to insure and maintain compared to generic aussie or jap cars.

i was thinking.. as power = petrol consumption on a sliding scale together,

maybe if it wasnt powerful it would have to make up in the looks department... maybe along the lines of a cappucino, mx5 and the copen...

if i could afford it it would be a new mini but they are still 25 grand plus.

i think i would like a small car that looks good - not cute - i dont want a cute car like the jazz or a getz or a yarris etc etc...

    • Agreed, I've never seen a 260RS specific manual. As GTSBoy said it will mostly be stagea other than the engine loom https://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/stageaservicemanual.pdf
    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
