really huh? Sounds major....The head is getting sent to enginering once my cams arrive. i hope there is a possible way around it and not have cost sky rocket at the same time. Is there anything even wrong with aluminum lifters anyway? It has a rb30 bottom end reving to 8k rpm max although power goal is 650rwhp...

cheers

too late now, but u sholda really sold ur neo head and bought a 26 head to start with

buying a rb26 head has been suggested although many of my parts are for the NEO head. Is there any reason why nissan only gave it 12 steel and not all of them? I am concerned about reliablity issues pushing big power.

depending what size cams u use, tomei recommened u use their lifters for the bigger cams

an extra ~$350 for brand new lifters isnt that much more to the total bill for a good quality build for decent hp, which is gonna be in excess of 20k+ anyway

do it the first time, do it properly

it has rb30 bottom end with a t04z with 1.00 a/r, valve springs, guides, port & polish, plenum etc...I did the reasearch and asked questions. Lift bigger then 9.3 will not fit a NEO head. Pon 260 are the closet. Rev will be set at 8k rpm.

u shoulda got the head clearanced for the bigger cams when u got the port/polish done u dope lol

The exhaust lifters arent aluminium but are titanium from memory.

NEO lifters are overhead shim, as opposed to RB26 which are under shim.

The lift issue has nothing to do with clearence problems, but is to do with the position of the lifter oil feed gallery that runs the length of the head. If the lifter is pushed down too far ( ie big lift cams ) the oil gallery is exposed and you end up with no oil pressure in your head. So there is a limit to the amount of lift that can be run when using the std lifters.

Thats an urban myth if your referring to the R33 VCT head, as the valve stems and lengths are different sizes, the guides are different, the springs are different . With major mods it can be done but it would be a pointless exercise and cheaper to buy a RB26 head.

If you know the right combo you can use almost all GTR valvetrain parts in RB25s.

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
