Viscount
My dad recently asked me to selling the number plate he has had for a couple of years. It is one that would appeal specifically to Porsche Boxster owners, as it is simply [ 987S ] which is the model number of the latest Boxster. Anyway, I was wondering what the best method to sell this plate would be. If I were to believe some of the number plate websites, I should be able to get quite a bit of money for it, but I don't know how to go about doing so. We also have 986S, but he currently uses that on his actual car, and probably wouldn't be too keen to part with it. Any suggestions would be welcome! Primordial
There's often stuff listed in the weekend newspapers which gets excellent exposure.. I think its fairly expensive to list there in comparison to anything online, but if you're selling the plates for $10k.... D_I_F
I know the RTA and I think some insurance companies have a certain day a year where they sell rare and special numberplates. I would maybe ring up the RTA or shannons insurance. They might be able to help you out. Craved
its amazing how much money people charge for simply thinking of something first, and not doing more than spending the $30 to get the plates made Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/193971-what-is-the-best-method-to-sell-a-number-plate/#findComment-3480839 Share on other sites

SECURITY
first you need a screw driver..... edit: sorry, i read it as steal i haven't really seen any number plates actually sell other than the ones at the auctions, and they usually have some kind of historical significance (like, the ex-G.G. had the plates like [G1] or something like that, and sold for around $150k. maybe try the porsche forums if there is one. funkymonkey
ebay? let the people decide how much its worth. i don't get people who sell numberplates for more than they're worth either... but hey, if there wasn't an idiot somewhere willing to buy em, no one would sell em. -= SKiZO =-
Pertinent question, I was thinking about this today! On a similar note, are you allowed to sell a plate which has a company name associated with it? e.g. My cousin has "FOXTEL" which he's had for many years and now wants to sell it. I know he could probably get away with it, but is there like a trademark thing to be aware of like domain names? Saw an old Commodore the other day with "GOOGLE" on it too.
