Buying Performance Parts From The Source

Recommended Posts

Hi all, when im Japan next month i want to buy a few parts to bring back.

For instance:

HKS 3037 or 3040

HKS pistons

I see on Nengun that the turbos sell for about $2500.Will i make a big saving by buying it direct from HKS?

Can someone find out what price i will pay???

regards

Dave

I would say it will probably cost more to buy it from HKS as you will be charged retail. nenguns price is below japanese retail. also, I don't think you will be able to but them from HKS anyway :woot:

not many places even in japan have HKS turbos etc just sitting around. it will be a bit hit and miss, but sure give it a go. I used to love buying parts in japan. now I just order and ship them as carrying stuff is a bitch.

Feel free to plug me any time Richard :D

I can often undercut nenguns prices and also am able to set up a system so you wont cop import tax.

not to mention my response speed is several light years ahead of nengun. :)

Im listening ;)

Well unlike nengun I can buy the part and send it to you in japan while you are here? that will lower international shipping costs... will be a pain lugging around a turbo though. anyway if you dont have my email its [email protected]

mail me if you want to hook something up.

yeah sorry :P I never really thought of you in the new parts light. :D but yes everything jesse says is true. he has good service, knows what he's talking about and has always been good to deal with. so i wouldn't hesitate to recommend using him to buy parts for you. :)

I should also add that he is insanely good looking. has had me question my sexuality once or twice. so definitely buy your gear from jesse over nengun "machimasu o-kudasai" performance.

Hehe, didn't think he swings that way... hehe

Yeah, Streeter rules... I heard he beat Chuck Norris in a fight

hks is super gay to deal with!

me and jesse were tring to get a gasket off them and it just went around in circle,

then rezz try to help me and hks sent us the wrong gasket 2 times and in the end said their was no gasket for my turbo LOL!

bad hks!

I have managed to get my hands on a Garrett GT3076,XTR topmount manifold from GCG and turbosmart external gate for a bargain price.

So i wont be going the HKS 3037 route,$2500 for a turbo was a little rich for my blood.

Im sure ill make the numbers with this setup though.

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
