get off your arse and ask them already. this thread has been going on 4 weeks now and still no action. I would suggest that if you are under 35 then it will take some serious convincing to make it happen. but just use your balls and ask. they are not going to punch you out. the worst they can do is say "f**k off".

Well very funny you say that Beer Baron! I have been away for the new year etc etc... and am quite lazy

I had a discussion with the lovely gentleman from Audi... He actually didn't really seem to pick me as a tyre kicker or anything he was more than happy to help out...

However, just to really put a dampener on things the guy said that the only test vehicle anywhere near Australia is in NZ at the moment!!! Which makes it kind of hard to get to from Vic :O

Farrrrk!!!!!

I did manage to get a full tour of a left hand drive one though!!! Absolutely wicked car everything is just right (Was the clutchless manual:( though much prefer the real deal)

Bang & Olufsen stereo... who would need one of those with that awesome sounding engine?

Ohh well onto bigger and better things I guess... anyone know where I can find an Enzo ;) (Joke)

Nope, I did get his card though as I dropped the line I might need something for the wife and kids... RS4 anyone?

Oh well nothing ventured nothing gained I guess, totally worth giving it a crack though :P

Thanks for all the input but don't end the thread as I'm finding the ideas very amusing  some awsome ideas for a sunday arvo!!!

I dont know why you want to test drive the R8??? it doesnt even get any more power than the RS4, not to mention the extra cost which is astronomical. The chassis is no doubt nicer, but i can assure you that the RS4 has more than enough ability to have fun anywhere you want. And yes, i have driven an RS4 on a regular basis

*it's 100kg lighter

*it has better weight distribution

*it's a sexy coupe rather than a family-spec 4 door

and it also features

*bigger brakes F&R

*much better interior

*dry sumped engine for lower centre of gravity and absolute piece of mind on track days

*better inlet and exhaust for faster revving

*much more sporting dynamics due to MR design

*aluminium alloy construction

since an NSX cost ~$245K when it was last on sale, does $269K sound unreasonable to you for a car also made from aluminium, but much more modern, with much higher power and more cylinders?

to be honest, the R8 does not appeal to me at all.... I drive an RS4 and could not see me forking out the extra $100k+ for the R8. $259k is for car only. They are closer to $300k once on the road. You could probably bargain them down closer to $280 but its alot more than an RS4....

I do admit, it would probably make an awesome track car, but how often do you honestly see anybody who buys an R8 putting it on a track?

lol i dont even know wat a rs8 is except that its a audi n can be brought with monopoly money lol. some1 chuck up a pic plz thank!

the RS8 should pretty much look the same, but will be powered by a heavily modified version of the 5.2L Audi V10 (might even end up closer to 5.5L)

Yes....

and for the love of god, how the hell do you begine to draw comparision between a RS4 and a R8 ??????

Exactly my thoughts. It's like people comparing the RB26 powered GTR's to the new GTR, they are completely different cars and worlds apart.

    • But seriously, can we ask for the results of the "tip a bottle of metho into a nearly empty tank" experiment?
    • Hang on. Let me get this straight. The desire is to have coilovers, BC in particular, to be MORE comfortable on Sydney roads than stock suspension? Well, that's obviously not right. BCs have crude damping design at the very best, and typically hard spring rates. BC stands for Billy Cart. And then, the desire is to put in some shitty old worn out stockers, to get it blue slipped and then put the BCs back in? And then.....what? Not worry about getting pulled up by the Plod? Because you seem to have raised a worry about paying for engineering (which actually does solve all your legality problems) and still getting pulled up.... but the only problem there is that if/when that happens you have to show your paperwork at the inspection station. Whereas, if you just swap in borrowed shitty old stockers to get it slipped now, and then you get defected in the future, you have to go find more shitty old stockers then too. You course of action looks like this set of options: Buy brand new stock type dampers, and springs. probably cost a bit more than $1k all up, but will last for the remaining life of the car. Put them in, pass inspection, drive on them forever more. Hell, they could even be really nice Bilsteins and Kings or other lower&stiffer springs if you wanted. Get the car engineered as is. ~$1k. Buy new Shockworks coilvers (or MCA) and also pay for engineering. You're spending a lot more here. But these will be the best things that you could drive around on.
    • Might be worthwhile hitting up Facebook's groups, I know most of them contain terrible people and scammers - however you might be able to find someone that's in Sydney with factory suspension you could purchase and/or hire. Just do not send any form of money anywhere, in person cash only.
    • Thanks @Duncan Ride height is fine. I think it's almost stock tbh. Happy to share a pic. I don't actually have a regular mechanic as haven't lived in Sydney too long. Could you or anyone recommend any shops in Sydney?
