meh manufacturers always come and go in f1, ferrari included.

sorry wut?

Ferrari have contested every season since the inception of the F1 championship

have you been gazing into your crystal ball Drunkan?

This is the bit that grabbed my attention:

"When they win the constructors' championship, which they did this year, they got $80 million more than if McLaren had won it.

Bernie must really get some heartburn everytime another outrageous FIA decision goes against McLaren- He has to cough up an extra 80 mil when Ferrari win the WCC!

I hate the off season, nothing to do but re-watch 2008 GPs, there were some good ones.

Really hope that this year there is a shake up and the likes of Williams can get back up there, i hope they at least beat Toyota so that if the squeeze gets tighter they might pull the pin on their operation and throw their support behind Williams.

Also, i have to laugh. Tata the dodgy Indian manufacturer now owns Jaguar and Range Rover. They are throwing their money into the rign with Ferrari probably trying to buy the sporting flair that their cars seriously lack. So if they have enough money to throw at Ferrari for sponsorship why are they crying poor to the English Govt asking for hand outs to keep Jaguar afloat. Man big business sucks, the worse things get financially the ricer the big companie get :domokun:

what are these rumours of toyota pulling out?

There are rumours in Japan Toyota are thinking about 09 as their last. The just made their first loss in the history of the company. Lets face it being in F1 doesnt help sell Camrys really. F1 has become obsolute and incredibly boring to watch. I reckon Toyota could put the 200 mill a year to better use.

meh manufacturers always come and go in f1, ferrari included. they aren't really the backbone of f1, the innovative motorsport engineer teams are. the place would be much better if the manufacturers left, budgets would immediately fall by miles

Yeah I dont know what year that was??? Sorry incorrect

Scuderia Ferrari

Debut: Monaco 1950

Drivers' titles: 15

Constructors' titles: 16

Races Competed: 775

Wins: 209

Pole positions: 203

Toyota arent going anywhere. Honda was such a shock for F1 that if another large manufacturer was to plan on pulling out, im sure F1 management would step in big time.

They cant afford to lose another team and i think toyota realises the potential 2009 has to reset the playing field a little.

This is all BS if u ask me. Why couldnt they keep 08 spec cars, add slicks, an 'overboost' button and only allow aero upgrades once a year or everyone has the same aero etc Would have cost alot less!

So who gets the privilidge of starting the 2009 thread?

And we should put in our picks now for who is going to win first race, the championship and constructors

Im biased. Alonso, Alonso, Renault. lol

I'd love to see a Tata salesman trying to talk someone into buying their cars. "We are partners with ferrari in F1, so all our cars are made in partnership with Ferrari. You sir, are in fact, looking at a ferrari!!!"

Doesn't Toyota have one of the biggest budgets in the paddock?

Massive budget + no results = no idea.

Yes but F1 is one of the few things in the world where money spent doesnt directly relate to amount of success or gain.

When Renault/Alonso won those 2 drivers and constructors titles, Renault wasnt spending anywhere near Ferrari or Mclaren.

And Toyota joined F1 very late. I think they have done well considering.

They are definately a team that forumula one needs, especially being the largest car producer etc

I think Honda have the most to explain, they have spent billions since they recently rejoined F1, and repeatedly their cars have just been too far off the pace in every season.

Plus Honda annoys me: They have the knowledge/power/money/technology etc to make some amazing cars. Including something benchmarking like the R35, yet all they do is release front wheel drive uglyness.

What is Honda's fastest currently available production car? :(

    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
