R34 Gtr N1's - With Fairly Stock Rb26dett Engine...will This Be Okay?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, ive got a fairly stock r33 gtr rb26 engine, and have found a really good price on some r34 gtr n1's....and wanted to replace the ceramics with these as i know the ceramics can cause alot of pain to the engine if they let go!!!

Do these n1 turbos need any modifications to fit to the standard manifold/dumps etc....or is it direct bolt up?

Will i be okay running these turbos if my rb26 is not mofidfied highly?

mods:

acl forged piston (.5mm oversize)

1.2mm thick headgasket tomei

arp headstuds

3" exhaust

ARC panel filters

no other mods, and factory ecu...would this be a wise idea, i just dont want to ruin my rebuilt motor by keeping the ceramics.

thanks

yep it's a great idea. with 1.2mm gasket and forged pistons you could quite happily run up to 20psi providing you have the fuel supply and cooling and tuning to support it. :)

Ive got The r34 N1 Turbos Good Choice Perfect Street Turbo , If i was You But i would Get a Aftermarket ECU Apexi Power FC , Fuel Pump And a Good Set of Injectors . With these Mods and your Mods Car Should Run Great ...

Thanks mate, can the n1's use the stock dumps? heres the auction for the turbos, are these real N1 Turbos?p.s will these be ok with stock ecu for now?

i run the trust ones. thats the dunmps and front pipe in one (three piece)

very nice but anything is better than standard! tomei items look nice!

Cooper if your in new zealand your xforce dealer out there (who sells stuff on ebay under performance guru) has very very cheep xforce gtr dumps!

Does anyone know the diametre of the the pipe on the x-force dumps where the dump connects to the front pipe? And if possible the distance from centre to centre of the bolt holes on the same end? I need to know if the front pipes i have at home will bolt up to these dumps.

If the front pipes fit the stock dumps i'd say you will be right! xforce ones are copys of hks dumps.

this guy from nz is clearly the cheepest you'd find them! and i beleive he's nz's distributor for xforce!

Hi, definetly replace the dumps but do not replace the manifolds. The turbo's are not big enough to worry about that and if anything aftermarket manifolds will give the turbo's more lag. Iam running these same turbo's in my r32 GTR with an R33 engine and Iam making 314.7rwkw on 20psi. With supporting mods like 550cc injectors/040 fuel pump/power fc/turbo back exhaust etc

    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
