Trozzle Posted September 9, 2012 Share Posted September 9, 2012 Keep in mind my most recent injury from e-diagnosis was most likely sacroiliac joint related, or small possibility it was disc. But in any case, light weights are a must of course. So far I've done 2 sessions of SLDLs 20/30/40kg sets, and then on the second session I did normal deadlifts at 60kg, 3 sets of 10. I've also got myself a foam roller and a fairly hard tennis ball (not a cricket ball, I know...but I'm a big girl). Have been stretching hammies as much as I can bare to as well as glutes and lower back. Right now after yesterday's SLDLs and DLs my very lower back muscles (emphasis on MUSCLE, first soft part of centre back above the pelvis) are tender from having not been used in quite some time. Will massage the area as best I can and rest it a couple ofdays before going at it again. It has next to no give so rolling your body weight over it makes for interesting self massage. Foam roller doesn't seem to hurt too much at the moment. I'm likely doing it a little bit wrong (have watched videos, don't worry not winging it) but yeah I guess muscles just aren't that tight right now. Been speaking to my Neighbour and he is currently one and running a gym as well. His been filling me in on all the info and it seems interesting. Need a career change so maybe this is it. Started the course as a whole in February from memory, and now I'm due to finish in the last week of November. It's a long course, but so worth it if you're keen on the whole fitness career thing. Was it just a pay the fee and join or do they look for a Atar results from school etc. I finished year 12 in NSW but didn't get a UAI or ATAR. Also roughly how much did the course set you back. From why my neighbour said he believes the longer course is the better course because it teaches you a lot more and you come out more confident in yourself. He also said he normally hires people from CIT rather then the 6 week one. I think it's abit over $1000 for each semester plus textbooks. The fees may have gone up now though with all the restructuring and government related crap that impacted cit. You will be at the cit bruce campus a fair bit, because I think they make you work in the cit gym outside of class time. It's partly working the front desk, but I'd say you will get a bit of program writing for the general public etc for your assessment. You just missed the open day as well... He said he has a lot to do with CIT and works with a lot of the part time people etc. Well I guess thats my mind made up I will have to go talk to CIT soon about it and try get in next year. I was pretty lucky with the fact that my parents have passed on a savings account for this very reason. To make sure I have money for further study. I will also wait to see what Tom says about the course if its very hard or not. It will make it easier if you already have that down. Cit are good about helping you pass test and stuff, but you gotta be willing to put in the work as well. I hope you don't expect to make a decent living being a PT. talk to an actual PT and see what they get paid, and what their costs are, and what they have to deal with. I'm not talking about the fatties that want to chat and walk on a treadmill on gradient 2 and speed 4.5km/h... or the fatties that say I want to tone up my butt a little.. but also the other side of the business.. the fact that you will no doubt be working in a gym who will pay you fark all. or if you were smart enough to make it your own business and manage to get your own clients, then using a gym with them for your business means you have to pay the gym have to have your own insurance so fatties who get a rash on the upper inner thighs due to the seat on the stationairy bike being made for regular size arses, decides to sue you. One last thing. People go to PT's because they are stupid. They want to look good etc etc. Go stand in front of a mirror in just your jocks. Do you like what you see... be honest. Because the type of retards that need/want PT will judge you on how you look. you know.. you are what you preach etc etc. If you are just a skinny douche with shaved arms and legs like 90% of them are, you won't get work. or you'll get your small share of fatties that you can put on a bosu ball with 3kg DB's to do OH presses between 15 minute chats about Big Brother. That is the same with most things though, you never get rich working for someone. I agree with the part about taking exercise advice from someone who isn't in shape though. Your body essentially becomes part of your business image. The only people I ask for advice from in the gym are the people who are big/ripped, not someone wearing the gyms uniform. With a boss that pays me below my award wage, doesnt pay super and wants to change my shifts to nights and weekends. Then it has to be better then that. Its something that I have been getting interested in over the past few months and thinking about. The pay couldnt be any worse then my current $21 an hour. Also when you look at my experience all I currently have is years worth of customer service. It seems all customer service jobs pay very crappy wages.
