I definitely prefer the older style bodybuilding look, not so much vascularity... I admire the dedication it takes to get that lean but its a bit extreme

After eating everything I could lay my hands on for the last few weeks prepping for powerlifting I'm now on a diet... it sucks and I'm hungry all the time... seriously I'd rather go to the gym and do a murderous session of barbell complexes, high rep squats and kettlebell circuits than diet... I'm so fckin grumpy

some chicken, avocado, tomato, lettuce for lunch... lame... last week I was smashing lasagne, steaks, burgers... I was so happy *tear*

ever since i started training + really looking at what/how much i eat, i've been amazed at the difference in: my satiety, the gut feeling after a meal (how what i ate sits in my stomach...), how much less i eat (and how much i used to overeat) etc etc...

the world is screwed up BAD. all these processed foods man......and that's what most people rely on as their 'daily nutrition'.

on the other hand as soon as i see an unhealthy food (ie wedges in your post) i literally almost always run away. like a few days ago i saw a bottle of solo in my fridge (family member's) and i basically slammed the door shut and immediately drank water. hahaha

I haven't eaten potato as part of my diet for many months now :P I was just proving to myself (and Tolga) that I'm not as f**ked in the head as I might come across lol

Though yeah I sorta feel the same way with regards to soft drinks. The idea of drinking a sugary soft drink now makes me cringe. I don't even bother with juice any more.

See I'm exactly the opposite I've dropped from 3500 calories a day to 2500 atm and i prefer eating 2500 calories, so much more convenient. Just east 3 big meals and snack on foods to make up the macros and never hungry , when I was bulking I had to divide that shit up into like 5 meals to be able to eat it all.

Why are people avoiding potato? I reckon steak and potatoes is a solid post workout meal!

On a different note, I did a deload where I didn't lift all for 6 days. I feel like I have been in a car crash after going through a cycle of my workout, especially my legs. Almost makes me regret owning a low car and living in a house with 10+ stairs to get to the front door...

But my lifts did go up which is a plus I guess!

eating has never been a problem for me... but then again neither has putting on muscle so its a trade off I guess

got home from basketball last night and made myself a Ribena... took a sip, remembered I'm dieting, poured it out and drank a glass of water... did I mention this sucks!?

I make sure I eat taters a couple times a week in my deficit. Love baked potato and wedges.

If I can't fit the ~ 1kg (carb equiv)I need PWO I smash cereal for carbs. It's like icecream, goes into a different stomach when you think you're full! The Fibre keeps you regular too.

Get on the coke zero!

Am I alone here in preferring to be that middle point in fat % ?

As in, core definition is decent, but you're not looking really tight.

I was this way, and I hope I still am. But I do recognise that, as your body changes, so too can your goals and perceptions without you meaning to. For some personalities, this can be a slippery slope. No one intends to end up that way from the start, so I guess you never know if it can happen to you until you've put a foot over the edge.

TTT's example, is basically the other extreme of people starting off with an idea of how big they want to get at the gym and then they'll stop...then all of a sudden they're injecting shit into themselves because too big is never enough. If your goal is definition, even just a "middle" amount...take it from me...once you obtain it you can start to obsess about it a little. I'm far from knocking back pizza at a mate's house, but I do control the foods I eat and how much of it. I look at my stomach everyday and try to grab a "roll" to qualitatively measure body fat. And then when you get even leaner, you start to like what you see...vascularity...more shape to individual muscles...it becomes your new definition (pun) of what looks good. It also doesn't help that you can look defined in some lights and not defined at all in others...the latter resulting in thought processes that you should cut more. Again, all comes down to personality and some people are more in touch with reality than others. But do consider that no one who got down to 40kg or got on the juice ever intended that to happen from the start. It's a slippery slope...

We are never 100% satisfied with what we have...it's one of those f**ked up survival mechanisms that keeps us going in whatever we do...sometimes to the detriment of our health. I think an important thing to do is regularly consult other people for their opinions, get that unbiased third party perspective so you're not alone in your f**ked up mind making decisions that can really change us. Afterall, if you're shooting for definition you're doing it to look good for other people - their opinions should matter more than yours.

Anyway, enough about Troy's bulimia. Today is squats and deads day, which makes me happy.

Bulimia?! hahaha noooooo

I know it's hardly pizza or potato, but this is the second one of these I've eaten today. Plus a heap of bacon and eggs for breakfast. And a large bowl of oats. And a WPI shake.

It's not much compared to some, but I'm not trying to gain weight. Far from bulimia though ya bum

Why are you in a deficit, aren't you 71kg 6ft+?

I'm ~73 and 179. About 5'9" -10" doesn't mean I have the desired low bodyfat%

Not a massive cut

I'm still gaining strength, size and eat more carbs than most at same figures I assume. It's just how I do it. Lean muscle gains. Sure there are faster ways to get big and strong, I can slap on or lose multiple kg in a week but it won't be muscle. I enjoy all types of foods still, KFC couple times a month. All works.

As dumb as it seems, he may have a messed up back. Should probs ask the guy before we all judge.

*thanks Dr. Phil*

ok that's a remote possibility I suppose, but seriously...perhaps he should consider rehab exercises first, strengthen his core rather than artificially support it.

    • Have a look at that (shitty) pic I posted. You can see AN -4 braided line coming to a -4 to 1/8 BSPT adapter, into a 1/8 BSPT T piece. The Haltech pressure sender is screwed into the long arm of the sender and factory sender (pre your pic) into the T side. You can also see the cable tie holding the whole contraption in place. Is it better than mounting the sender direct to your engine fitting......yes because it removes that vibration as the engine revs out 50 times every lap and that factory sender is pretty big. Is it necessary for you......well I've got no idea, I just don't like something important failing twice so over-engineer it to the moon!
    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
    • I wouldn't worry about dissimilar metal corrosion, should you just buy/make a steel replacement. There will be thread tape and sealant compound between the metals. The few little spots where they touch each other will be deep inside the joint, unable to get wet. And the alloy block is much much larger than a small steel fitting, so there is plenty of "sacrificial" capacity there. Any bush you put in there will be dissimilar anyway. Either steel or brass. Maybe stainless. All of them are different to the other parts in the chain. But what I said above still applies.
