Hows it going.

Im new to the forum so please excuse me if i posted this up in the wrong joint.

Anyways, im looking to buy a N/A R33 GTS4 (with sunroof) and kitted up before October.

Ive seen alot of threads on VIC dealers, but i was wondering if you guys can help me by pointing me towards a good dealership that wont screw me over :( .

I was GOING TO buy off JSA up in VIC, but two reason stopped me, negative feedback from some people here and the fact that its up in VIC lol.

Anyways thanks alot in advance .

HOWDY,

If yo have til oct, and want the best return for your dollar, why not try to import one?. I have just bought a Gtr in Tokyo, through an agent, now I'm waiting for the car to be shipped. the process has been painless and I believe I have the car I wanted at the right price.

Powerplay Imports, No question.

If they don't go to the edge of the earth to meet your requirements, they'll go close enough till they can see it! Alistair and Jo-ann are some of the hardest working and nicest people you could ever encounter in the grey import industry.

They pulled my Stagea from Customs, had it trucked to their workshop, complied it, went over it and fixed the niggling mechanical issues (loose ball joint, leaking ATTESA modulator) and blueslipped it ready for rego. All that was left to do was pay for their services, register the car and drive it home.

I can't speak highly enough of them and would highly recommend their extremely capable services to anyone.

Super happy camper here.

I had a bad experience with Envy Imports on the Northern Beachers of Sydney.

NOTE: This may not be reflective of their usual cars or items, but this was the case for my single purchase.

I puchased a Nissan 180sx from the dealership that was listing cars on behalf of Envy Imports, it was a nice Blue CA powered machine, seemed alright, had lowish but realistic looking kms, a couple of small cracks, no boot rust, and engine bay was clean.

Car came with New front tires (although I later saw "NOT FOR ROAD USE, FOR TESTING ONLY" stamped on the tires) and the rears where almost through to the belts (but the rear tires had the same batch number for the tires as the fronts, so they where from the same batch, and chances are they where installed at the same time, so car DEFINATELY had a thrashing.

Anyway, purchased car, asked for tires to be replaced, road worthy, etc as it had nevre been registered prior (this was a Sunday).

Picked up the car the very next Wednesday, same tires all around still on the car, but was complied and registered.

Drove it home and was pulled over by an interested cop, he found the tires, but he was nice enough to give me a warning when I showed him the receipt of car purchase, and the fact I had only just picked it up and was disputing the lack of tires on it.

a few weeks later, I had put money away for timing belt (it was coming up to that time) and put it into the workshop.

Get a call from the workshop telling me to come and have a look at the car, I get there and there is a rust hole in the lower door sill on the passenger side, looked small enough, about the size of a mobile phone.

Anyway, rego was coming up (only had 3 months rego) so I took it back to Envy to get checked for the safety certificate, and was knocked back on the rust hole.

I took it to my panel beater to get the rust cut out, and found the rust was actually about 1 foot long, and was a monster job.

Got the rust cut out, and took it back to Envy, and it was passed.

Later, when replacing the A/C compressor due to bearing failure, I found a crack in the suspension tower about 6cm long, and right through to daylight on the other side, at this point, I sold the car 'as is, needs TLC'.

This particular car was rubbish, had been thrashed, was rusted right through, and was a general POS, the only thing good about it was the drive-line.

NOTE AGAIN: This might not be reflective of their general cars, but it was in the case of mine, I am not bagging Envy Imports, I have seen some quality come from their shop, but this was back about 4 yrs ago now, and the quality of this particular car was terrible.

If you do find a car you like, then don't make the mistake I almost made and be tempted by a place

that doesn't get mentioned fairly frequently on these forums.

If you can't google up some real feedback left over the last 12 months then be extremely cautious.

Also, assume the odo has been rolled back unless they can produce japanese documentation

showing otherwise.

Sorry to hear :(

But why did you drive home when they didnt replace the tyres?

I would have asked for my money back, or demaned they did it on the spot before driving off home.

Guess it happened 4 years ago.. hmm

Because I was blinded by the fact I got the car I wanted after searching for 8 months, I was gobsmacked to be actually driving away in it, so I thought I could spare the extra few hundred for new rear tires.

If I had known the rest of the saga, I would have kept looking.

Guess that's the other thing, if you find the car you want, get SOMEONE ELSE to look it over, because you might be blinded in the fact you want the car and will overlook 'stuff'.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
