I've done a quick search and couldn't come up with anything specific..

I'm looking at importing a Stagea in the next couple of months. I've never owned an import before but have a clean driving record, been driving for 4 years.

I currently own an R31 wagon and wanna upgrade. :thanks:

Just wondering what insurance companies you guys with Stageas are with, and how much it costs?

I've done a couple of online quotes but most of them don't have Stagea listed in their vehicle list, so I'm waiting for an email back.

Sorry if a thread like this has been done before.

Thanks in advance. :)

Does Boosted work for Shannons?

Sorry to hijack the thread but i'm about to hit the big two-five, so i thought i'd start shopping for some cheaper insurance (JCI $1800p.a. full comp hurts my wallet)

I've hit up Vigil, who are now part of LSV, for a quote too. a mate recently got a quote for $1000 premium, $500 excess from them.

Mine is through Famous - ex Vigil, but Custom Car Insurance, Shannons, JCI do ok quotes.

8OO5TED did and should still be working for shannons.

he was very very helpful with quotes for the stagea and the R33 and i was already a customer.

I've been with JCI for 1 year now, I just turned 24 and got my renewal notice in the mail for $888 12 months full comp.

What do you do to get a premium like that? Neither myself or my friend (who owns an imported MR2 GT-T) can get below $1800 a year with JCI.

Do you have any traffic fines like speeding or neg driving? i think that's what's hurting me, i was a bit of a rebel when i started driving.

I'm in SA.

I got an online quote from Just Car for $1440 per year full comp. Is that good? Famous sent me an email back but said I didn't supply enough information for an online quote and would call me soon.

Thanks for all the tips guys, makes wanting to get a new car even more tempting :/

I have just gone to Shannons for my S2 Stagea $549.00 for $20,000.

I am with shannons as well, with 3 cars and house and contents on 65% no claim 35 yr old multi poicy discounts

My S2 with large list of mods is covered $25000 yearly policy $1208

So I rang them to see if they could do better, I changed it to being driven 1-2 days week, instead of daily use, new policy price $992 yr

I could reduce it more as the car only gets driven once a month.

Coparts41, is yours for daily use?

JCI: insured for $19K on car and all mods (damn pirates!) and $3.5k on wheels, all engine/drivetrain mods legal and declared,

costs $890 p/a. This is the 3rd year I've used them, and I am 65% ncb & 30y.o.

EDIT: car is daily driven

I have just gone to Shannons for my S2 Stagea $549.00 for $20,000.

It all comes to where you live. Age is not my issue, no garage and apparantly West Ryde is not a cheap suburb to have insurance!

JCI $1600PA for NM35ARX @$30k as a daily drive.

I think Shannons can do you a better deal.

I wish, because I do not have a garage and a daily drive will not insure me. JCI were the only company despite age of 42, no points and only 2 speeding fines in 20 years of driving.

If I lived on the northern beaches insurance would be at least $500 cheaper. aaaaarrrrrgggghhh :P

    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
    • That worked out PERFECTLY! Thank you big time to JJ. He was able to swap me his stock diff. He drove all the way to me as well. Killer! Removal & install was pretty straightforward. The diff itself is HEAVY. So that’s a 2 man job.  Man does the car drive nice now! Couldn’t have worked out any better 👌
