Ok... not a hell of a lot has changed since the last post apart from the fact that i finally got the drivers seat in and have fit the gtr indicators and repaired the left guard.

its lookin good but still a long way off... ive decided that i just dont have the time anymore to prep it for paint so im going to either get con to finish it off (fit the bar properly, weld the boot holes up and paint strip the right guard etc) and paint the damn thing.

the cost to paint and finish it off from con from palm is 1800 which is a little expensive but it will be at least done to a HIGH standard... ive seen the work that goes on down there and these guys are good as im sure whistla and arsn will be able to tell u (altho i still see arsns down there so he wont know how good a job they do til its done i spose :))

anyway heres a few pics...

things to be done still to the exterior...

-mesh up the front bar.

-fit and paint the GTR skirts

-get the carbon bonnet

-get the nismo rear lip

-powdercoat and fit the wheels

once thats all done i will start on the engine and finish off the interior (including registering it as a 2 seater and fitting a half rollcage.) ... looks like this project is going to take longer than i thought :) should look the goods once its done.

eric - nah i decided not to go for the 89 GTR and instead keep this and do it up til its just right and keep it. I had most the parts sitting around for nearly a year so i havent spent any cash on it recently apart from the seats.

dave - ;) there will be a "little" rice but nothing too out there... was nice to drive it today... its the first time in about a month ive been able to drive her... oh how i miss snapping into second and third and feeling the arse end step out to the side when it breaks traction....

hehe was speakin to troy about them UAS ones... apparently theyre not really much better than a real GTR bonnet. The one's UAS sells are fibreglass with a carbonfibre layer glued on top.

At about $4 per sq meter for fibreglass, and $80 per sq mtr for a layer of carbon fibre, it should theoretically cost aroun $500 for one, not $1000.

hehe that's what I thought as well... to make a full carbon bonnet you need about 8 layers of carbon fibre to make it about thick enough or something. At about $80 per sq mtr, you'd need about 4 sqmeter to make one full layer (not including extra on the edges) thats $80*4*8 = $2560 + labour (making pure carbon fibre bonnets ain't easy) = around $3000 for a proper one.

yer, tell me something i don't know. Decent or "real" carbon fibrebonets are at least $2k. Most of them are just for show and fibreglass/carbon fibre hybrids..

Hmmm, that $1800 is scaring me nark! maybe i should try the place Horus recommended..

looking very 733t there narkus. so with the new bonnet is it gonna lip over all the way like the standard one, or u gonna fit the split grille thingy??

sounds like it's coming together nicely, i'd be interested to see whether losing a couple of seats makes it noticably faster/responsive/handle better, or also the increased rigidness with the rollcage, or still wouldn't make a diff?

cheers.

some pics with the wheels on...

    • Started sifting thru my brakes to decide which ones I will run on Clem   Made me think I should just put them all on Silver...for when brake fade just isn't an option   Should be able to bump rotor up from 343x32 to 348x36 off Supra. Not sure if the Supra annulus is right for the Alcons or APs but trying g to find a used Supra\M4 rotor to test fit The Alcons seem to gain 1-2mm clearance which all helps

    • Probably speedometer itself if the odometer is ticking. If the needle is stuck from a bit of grease or something that can cause it to stay at 0. Or a cracked solder joint in the speedometer can do it too.
    • Thanks Fella’s   to take this off topic and to elaborate a bit more. I have an rb25/30 going into a r32 GTST.. expected to make around 600-700hp. Would you?   A) R34 GTT box   B) CD00#?  I’ve seen a few posts about the CD swap and sounds fairly involved with making it fit etc but if it’s worth the work then I’ll go that way
    • Lower at the hubs. Funny I forgot to mention that part. Do this pull here I turned the camera off too soon but the graph shows a drop at the top and that was because the pipe from the turbo blew off. The tuner said we could’ve made possibly another 15 whp. He also added if I switched to ethanol we could up the boost some more as well. I was comfortable capping it at the most of 20 pounds. Turns out the turbo pipe just needed a new worm clamp. Got home replaced that then did a third gear pull from 3k to 7200 rpm and the power was great to the top. I just got an ecu mounting bracket from IEE that I need to try and get everything to fit well. It’s a PITA to get the harness and ecu fit properly behind that kick plate
