Hiya!

Well, todays my bday, so a couple of days ago i decided to treat myself, so i went out and bought a nitro powered remote control car.

Its a Skyline of course, 1/10 scale, runs on nitro fuel, is four wheel drive, and yeah its very quick. Took a couple of days to run the engine in, and set it all up properly, but its running sweet now.

Just curious as to how many other people on here have one of these kinds of RC cars, and if so, any useful links or information on tuning and whatever would be helpful. Also interested to know if there are any clubs in SA that hold racing events, or if there are any tracks around built for racing these cars around. Im new to all this RC stuff, so yeah, any help would be appreciated

Took a few pics of it thismornin', so take a looksie:

Well, have a good day!

cya!

Nice. Is it pull start. Its a good start into the Nitro RC's. U should come see the real cars race. My brother and I used to go to the track every second sunday to race. He still goes...

Basically u have a car that can be mucked around with, with minimum maintainance... They are good little cars.

Make sure u look after it well. PM me if u wanna know anythin abaut RC cars.

I use 2 race electric 1/10th scale onroad and offroad for about 5 years.. raced interstate, two national champs and quite a few state championships in various classes.

You can get various RTR (ready to run) models from either Model Flight (who stock a very fast and sturdy super tourer type cars) or Hobby Habit who pretty well hav the RC car scene well and truely wrapped up in adelaide.

Model Flight ar at 42 Maple Road, Keswick (Just behind lecornu) and Hobby Habit ar on Main Nth Road about 1km before you get to Grand Junction Road, headin outta town.

Both places ar worth a look if you're keen.

Great fun 'ey Castle

not to mention most expensive enrico.

$150 worth of tyres for a club meeting? I'll pass on that one thanks!

Off the shelf fastest but they make oval circuit cars in the states that run on 30+ cells and 5 turn Cobalt motors that do over 100km/h pretty easily.

Has anyone been up to LittleHampton before to watch em? Awesome things, especially the 1/5 scale tourers

  • 2 weeks later...

Me and my housemate are looking at getting one each. But we are newbies. Can you guys fill me in on some things we should know before getting em?

For example,

- any costs involved

- maintenance

- pros/cons

etc etc

Would be very much appreciated :)

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
