So go figure this one, i drop by my local spray shop to ask how much they are looking at for a full colour change re-spray. Straight off he says $15k and thats for just the same colour. Now i have an R33 GTST in AN0, which for all those that don't know is wine red. I would love to have a nice cobalt blue or canary yellow, which once my body kit arrives would look sweet.

Then the dude says that i should just sell the 33 and buy a 34. Fair enough, but i actually like my 33.

Is this guy just to F*cken soft to say that he cannot be arsed to do the job, so he sledges the car and prices himself out of the market. He wasn't exactly rushed off his feet! (sat on his arse at 3 in the arvo having a chat)

Anyone know a good body shop that would do a full spray job; a combo of new gel coat body kit and existing wine red 33 for a price that doesn't equate to nearly half a GTR! Happy to travel to most places in the immediate Sydney area. Personal recommendations appreciated along with any pics of the work they have done for you..

Cheers all

Louie @ Xclusive colours

Good price and good workmanship

he's on cumberland highway in smithfield, right next to Pirtek which is next to Hungry Jacks. Nice Pink building.

Dont have a phone number on me.... but search in the NSW forums and there will be a thread there

ahaha $15k. I wonder why this guy just didn't go straight out and say that he won't do it. Probably knew some people were dumb enough to pay that so just said 15K and if you said yes, he would've done it. haha

yeah its a common paint/panel tactic, put a rediculous price on a job they dont really want to do.

its happened in every shop ive worked, its easier and more profitable to do smaller-medium sized jobs compared to big ones.

lol you might as well buy a cheapy R34 with 15K

There's D & D Auto Refinishers, call 9398 2268 and ask for John

Their address is 1 Lingard St in Randwick near intersection of Alison Rd and Avoca St

seems he just doesnt want the business so best off going somewhere else.

as for spray shops depends on how far your willing to travel. i know a guy who lives in young and does some of the best work i have ever seen. sure its a long way from sydney but personally i think its worth the trip.

ill see if i can get some photos of his work and ill post up some contact details.

Hi,

$15K is the standard quote for a burial plot for your car with you in it.

The only condition is that you pay up front for the job and they guarantee "No Complaints"!

Nepean Valley Smash owned by Jason & Mal Gower (brother and father of Craig Gower) do great things for special cars. They use Glazurit paint which is the same on Mercs and BMs. Call 02-47353522 for a quote which should be very reasonable.

Regards,

Terry

Thanks for the recommendation Terry; tried calling them today for an idea of price and the woman on the phone just couldn't be arsed giving me an indicative quote.

Any more offers for honest and straight forward paint shops............

with that 15k + the money he gets if he sells his car, he can probably afford a r33 gtr

    • You can use your VIN to look up the factory part number somewhere like amayama, and then look to order new if necessary. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan Depending on price you might want to rebuild instead. @GTSBoy I had an interesting insight into US market parts when the Titan rear calipers were sticking. New calipers were dirt cheap, about 20% more than a rebuild kit....they are just considered throw away maintenance items

    • Lots of votes for driving onto a plank first; that is the quickest way I've found, 25mm is enough for my case but that will vary by car It also depends where you are going for. On the 32 I can get to the rear diff with my floor jack if I do that end first, and get it up on stands. Then I lift the front from either front tow hook as high as needed, also onto stands. Sometimes I need a small lift on the other tow hook to get it level enough If I do the front first I can't get to the rear diff because of the angle of the car Other options are getting to the front mount of the rear subframe from in front of the wheel (if only lifting one side, or just do both which is a bit of a pain compared to one lift from the diff), or also the gearbox cross member mount on the driver's side if you are  just trying to lift the driver's side. I This is the jack I use; it says 75mm clearance but of course that is only on the lower section so if you have to reach too far in like the diff you still get stuck. https://www.snapon-bluepoint.com.sg/category/Floor-Jacks/product/Floor-Jack,-2-Ton-Low-Profile

    • Ok so i will NEED to have this sensor anyway even with Nistune (or standalone ECU) https://justjap.com/products/genuine-nissan-boost-pressure-sensor-evap-control-system-fits-nissan-r34-skyline-c34-nm35-stagea-pnt30-x-trail-rb25det-vq25det-sr20vet?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOoqfxX48bW9bEwH62orcNhtBfp7ekAL0C9Ca89ySFGUiBzXfXeze Is this the correct one? And this is only thing i need? No other "things" connected to the sensor or something? I do have the wiring.
