Well anyone who can pedal a 917 around well then take the piss out of the Germans afterwards has my vote. :P

Some of the younger readers and forumites may not have read Franks Bio or even have the faintest idea about that which you speak. Makes for a good lesson in Australian Motor Racing History to read about the exploits of one Frank Gardner.

cheers

What a shame to lose skaify and Oran Park in one weekend. It's sad to see a place with so much history get taken over by houses as they did to amaroo park years ago. I remember riding a push bike around amaroo park as a 5 year old. I don't know where they expect us to go when they take away a place like OP and Calder is going the same way too. The options are drying up...

I didn't like skaife when he was winning but that because he was so good. It's sad to see him retire on a down year. I reckon he's still got it, just needs to be away from the politics.

Paul Morris. Meh... Good riddence. I never liked him.

Yer great Oz looses another permanent road circuit and tony cockhead gets another temp street circuit that everyone can drive around on for 11.5 months a year...oh wait no they can't cause cockhead can't have control then can he?

Mark Skaife...What a legend enjoyed grew up watching the guy race the GTR's with gentleman Jim then go onto the v8 snoretaxi's...Sad to seem him go i think there's alot more to this whole TW V's MS story that we might never know about but im hoping its not the last time we see him in a race car....Thanks skaifey!!! Provided me with alot of memorys!

Also a shame for Mark to finish up broke and owing money.

Morris on the other hand richer than ever

I was reading that Jack Daniels Racing as we know it is shutting up shop...

I got this for the "Fast And Dangerous" blog on Top Gear AU Website

Most startling of all, however, is the revelation that Larry Perkins, inducted into the V8 Supercars’ Hall of Fame on Monday night, will not field a single entry in the 2009 championship. The six-time Bathurst winner and former F1 racer will instead focus his efforts on his successful engineering business, which already supplies the majority of pitlane with specialist parts. He'll also build a pair of cars for Todd and Rick Kelly's start-up - which, it must be said, is still searching for a sponsor for Rick's entry.

So in other words...the kellys are leaving TWR and going out on their own with technical and engineering help from LP. Apparently like Todd will be taking the JD money with him to this new team and Rick apparently will have Red Bull money....watch this space I guess

That's sweet that the Kelly brothers are going out from the unbrella they've been under for so many years. I will like them more when their race wins come from another team other than TWR funded teams. I'm sure they will too.

It is a shame that Larry has moved away from team ownership. I had hoped the Kelly clan had partnered up with Larry, good engineering, good drivers and good budget means that they would have been able to get back to the top...i am such a Larry fan. Was it the 93 Adelaide F1 street race where he drove like a madman? 94 Bathurst opening laps in the wet with Brock sliding all over the shop

I think for LP, team ownership was very expensive so he's decided to scale down and since that the engineering side makes him more money (he does supply engineering parts for a lot of holden teams)...it's a wise move.

from what i've read, LP will be suppying chassis and other engineering bits and services to the Kelly Gang while the Kelly Gang are making the race engines.

Bargs back in a commodore...that's good....and he's with Murphy....hmm...i'll comment on this after Adelide next year

    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.
    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
