Something like that would be sweet for me. What is a set up like that worth? Or is it cheaper to get a digi cam?

WAY cheaper to get a cheap digicam and mount it on suction cup/roll bar mount

unless you want to mount it outside your car?

the kits that record to solid state memory are bout 500-600 bucks on the cheaper side of things

yeah no worried big fella. do you need the DV cam to go with it too? I don't need it atm. and in my 32 on the cage it's wide enough to see steering, and gear changes. :)

generally a wider angle lens would be ideal as well.

wat do u guys think of this?

Perfect for the smaller DV cameras, and priced so well, EVERY DV film-maker should have one in their kit! Can handle cameras up to 3 kilos.

Unlike other units that use suction, these babies use a vacuum based system, which is simply better and more secure.

i can get these for 250 each.....

thinkin about organizing a group buy, these will use any standard trypod camera screw.....

would anyone be interested?

oh and im talkn about the mount, not the camera lol

Ive used both, i wouldnt say that the vacuum ones you pump are more secure.

Plus 1 vacuum vs 4 suction..if 1 suction lets go..you still got 3 hanging on..if that big vacuum lets go..its all over

but then you still should have tethers and what not.

but either way they'll both get the job done fine.

$250 isnt too bad a price either

yeah for sure. some mini DV cams you can get fairly cheap wide angle adapters for, but not mine sadly ;) but anyway, it's not really too bad. I can see steering wheel, gear stick, the gauges and the track. ;)

Sweet, I think I'll go that way then. I'd only want it in the car.

What would a half decent cam be worth Aaron?

What made you decide against it Aaron/Ferni? Will the mounting cup/s pass scrutineering?

Dunno it looks like it'd do a fair job I reckon. I got a bullet cam instead but the quality is average..which is more due to the way i have it setup. If you can get one of those hero cams you could make fair use of it for interior, etc..

Scruinteering first, cam in second lol

Funny thing though, I read on the cams site that theres no actual 'requirement' only recommendations..until they think that after 2009 that any camera that isnt mounted directly to the floor of the car will have a maximum weight of 100g..(ie bullet cams only i'd say)

Make of it what you will..im sure theres some other cams rule which conflicts and doesnt let you have it mounted on a suction cup mount or something..

Cam and mount wouldnt go astray Count. :D How is the camera for roll overs? It is PI and anything is possible once the falg drops and the cameras start rolling

well I haven't rolled it (yet) but it did withstand my air time over the ripple strip backwards and the nice 'firm' stop at the concrete wall turn 10 EC. just as little moment of black on impact but apart from that it's all good. it also survived that japanese drifting at fuji I showed you complete with mega 10,000+ rpm and lots of curb! it's all yours big boy, just buy some DV tape and you are ready to rock.

If money was no object, i'd go for something like

Unfortunately string / tape / glue is more in my budget.

you could make up a similar setup to that using the same gear for a crapload cheaper if you really wanted to.

seriously think about switching to a DV cam mate. HDD cams and DVD cams are no good for track use. the constant vibration and knocks and bumps will destroy your camera HD. DV cam is the cheapest most reliable option for motorsport, unless you look at solid state memory like the SD of CF AV recorders (like the one trent posted) that take input from a small external camera.

Reckon it will be bad just using it for trackdays?

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
