tossing up whether to buy a 34 gtr or 33 gtr

i love the 33 shape but i have heard the 34's are better?

i dont know much about gtr's. whats the go?

this car wont be modified much apart from a ecu and exhaust and some mild boost.

Definitely the 34. Nothing wrong with the 33 but after how many years of driving one do you want to step into the seat of yet another 33. It will be a completely different car, but most of the interior will be the same. A 34 will look and feel different and new, plus it'll look nicer to a lot of your car ignorant friends. Besides, apart from the recent R35, the R34 has been the ultimate car for so many Skyline (and other car) drivers, you'll be the envy of everyone on the road.

I like the R34 better, looks wise.

Better as in... All depends, handling / power / overall refinement.

Things are inproved in the R34 at the same time more buttons to push. Overall same car, engine, but depending on which level of model.

Ok Stock R33 GTR vs Stock R34 GTR = Same with a few extra inbuilt features.

R34 got electronic LCD multifuntion display unit / R33 got analog gauges.

The LCD can show the G-Force the car is pulling and there is a lap timer, a rev light, all the Oil Temp / Oil Pressure / Boost Gauge / Water Temp Gauge / Fuel Injector Gauge / Exhaust Temp Gauge etc... Do you need all these? Its all just inbuilt accessories. Not complaining if I had it but just more things to look out for.

Unitll you get to the V-Spec II N1 / V-Spec II Nur / M-Spec, there will be slight differences in engine, suspension and revisions on the car.

I drove a 303kw GTR R33 then went for a ride in a 450 kw GTR R33 with all the sweet bolt on parts... Yeah its faster / better than a R34, but I could do the same and bolt on all the seet mods in the GTR R34 then that will / could be better... All depends on whats done on the car and personal prefferance.

But I must say sitting in the R34 I was very impressive. The Dashboard and the whole interiour is very refined as aposed to the R33.

Personaly I like the R34 with its TUFF Killer looks but it just cost more than my GTR R32.

GO THE GTR R34!!! :)

no dout BNR34 is a awesome car, from stock it has the looks and performance. it's a beast!!!

current mods to my car is:

Highflow cat

Nismo exhaust

Cam Gears

Nismo panel filter(factory box)

1 bar boost

exedy clutch

Dyno tuned with 98 octane fuel

Pumps out 278kw to the ground, which with a proper launch beats a F430 by 3 car lengths and a gallardo by 3.5 car lengths by 3rd gear. car runs perfect and reliable.

get the BNR34 well worth the extra dosh.

BNR34 = R34 GTR. oops left it out i'm using a Apexi Power FC. Yeah it was pretty cool running those 2 cars, my friend was shadered that he lost to me in both his cars. both cost about half mil each on the road. bloody deafening with both cars redlining every gear.

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
