Superlap Australia
Clubsprint Class can only use street tyres. Stupid Toyota
personally I reckon the old way was better. cars with engine conversion etc should be in open class.apart from anything else watching someone with their supermega RB30 build pushing say 400rwkw doing laps on their nangkangs (as semi-slicks are not allowed) is going to be scary. I think the whole idea of the clubsprint class is for the less seriously modified cars. engine conversion throws that out the window. doesn't worry me too much, but in most other types of racing engine conversion puts you into open. as it should be. I think Richard that you are right and I think that after further discussion it will have to go back to the original. I have now changed it back to the original. The original idea had merit because some cars are awfully difficult to do engine conversions to but they are the likes of Evo's and WRX's however they have 4WD to offset it. An RB25 can be modified for 400rwkw too if you have the money remember. Would it be feasible to have capacity divisions? I'm wondering about light-weight JZA80 Supra's with HKS 3.4ltr stroker kits and RB25's with 2.7ltr stroker kits all in the original block? Also those who know. Is Oran Park a handling circuit or a HP circuit? Or does it reward both relatively equally? I only ask because I've recently purchased a little car with FWD that weighs under 800kgs and is sporting turbocharging etc I was thinking it'd be a cool toy for Lakeside... Might be useful at OP too though Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/210939-superlap-timeattack-is-ago/page/3/#findComment-3731106 Share on other sites

Might be useful at OP too though Hi John, The way the rules are is that the only class a "lightweight" Supra could enter is open class. If the car is stripped or has carbon panels (doors & guards) puts it straight into Open Class. I dont think I would want to run a 3.4L lightweight Supra on Street Tyres anyway would be rather scary I think as would a 400rwkw RB25 R33/R34. This is what we are hoping will get the owners of such vehicles to enter Open Class so they can run on Semi Slicks. phunky_monkey
I'll fight you both for it Nathan, are jap cages allowed in this event? I didn't see anything specifying they weren't in the regulations. Beer Baron
yeah I think it's a good way to go. hell if my GTR is quick I will run it in open class purely so I can use semi's. if it's not I'll run the silvia in clubsprint class. and I have to say, it's an awesome idea and will be sure to sell out. As far as I am aware majority of the Japanese roll cages do not pass cams regulations. This is one of the things we are waiting to hear back from cams about. As soon as we hear back from them all the rules will be finalised. Might be useful at OP too though I reckon anyone with the coin to build a 400rwkw RB25, or a 3.4l 2JZ should be aspiring to open class anyway. I'm assuming of course if you pour big money into a motor you will put equal amounts into braking and suspension too. Your little 800kg FWD would be pretty quick around OP I reckon. It has just the main straight (fairly short and fairly low speed onto the straight) then another little straight between turns 2 and 3. only a couple of quicker corners but you need a pretty well balanced car and nice torquey responsive engine or at least some good close gear ratios to get quick around there. I would say it's slightly more a handling circuit than HP circuit. the right driver in the right car does not need much power to put in quick laps around it. phunky_monkey
Thanks Nathan. From what I've seen down here, most scruitneers let them through as long as they look safe, but some confirmation when you get it would be great. Beer Baron
all CAMS super sprints I have done in NSW allow japanese cages but it is at the scrutineers discretion. no event where a cage is required will allow them, but pretty much any event that is not door handle to door handle racing will. giant
hey guys ! win or loose, it will be a top event! it should be great to be part of , and if you dont fit in street just enter in open class, you might suprise yourself! and you never know what can happen on the day, the m speed gtr blew the hollinger the day before tsukuba ( but they managed to fix it) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/210939-superlap-timeattack-is-ago/page/3/#findComment-3731292 Share on other sites

N1GTR
Steve....like any racing they need to decide on some rules....and with any rules some cars are advantaged and some are disadvantaged.Engine swaps are still OK overall, you just change the class you are competing in. Yeah i understand that, just after a definate "line in the sand" And as long as I beat Steveo lolRuss, let me know when you guys are going to go for a few practice days, would be good to see the cars in action and finaly meet you! Cheers, Chris Settle pettle, im not in your class for more than one reason now: -Rb30 bottom end -Gate vents to atmo +1 to practice and meeting up Hi Guys,For starters thanks for your EOI form Chris I did recieve it and have now added you to the entry list for Clubsprint Class. N1GTR - I called a meeting to dicuss your issue this morning and thought about changing it but after even more discussion we have decided to keep the original rule. As for entry fees: Open Class - $450 includes Timing Device and a Garage Clubsprint Class - $250 includes Timing Device - Depending on how many Open Class entries we get Clubsprint Class entrants may be offered a garage at an extra cost if we have some left over. NYTSKY - No you will not be able to enter Clubsprint Class with a screamer pipe. This clashes with the Street Legal side of the Class. There are some limits on this Class which is what seperates it from the Open Class. The cars in Clubsprint Class have to have a working Cat Converter and if you have a screamer pipe then there is not much point to having a cat. Cheers -Nathan No worries, thanks for the reply Reason i was asking is that ive got an RB30 bottom in a GTR, decent brakes on it aswel, but it doesnt stand a chance in hell of a decent/respectable result in open class against even half of the current list, eg workshop backed cars etc. Its got a screamer on it (but id plumb that back if the RB30 was allowed). Seems i shouldve got a 2.8kit instead of the RB30 and used the 26 block in hindsight, so no one knows whats inside Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/210939-superlap-timeattack-is-ago/page/3/#findComment-3731321 Share on other sites
