I also wouldn't mind seeing this evolve into proper grid start racing.

Nah, against the clock is more fun (and affordable) than against someone elses door

Why the rule banning Porsches from ClubSprint class ? Is the event going to be predominantly Japanese vehicles or are other Australian/Eurp marques encouraged to enter. I see some BMWs are in the mix

We would like to see it mainly Japanese vehicles which is the reason for the no rear 6 Cylinder or above rule to rule out the millions of porsches which would take over the event. A good point has been raised by a few people about ferraris and lambo's being able to enter. I am fine with that mainly because I can count on 1 hand how many lambo's and Ferrari's will enter whereas I would not be able to count with both hands how many porsches we would end up with. We will see a few Holdens and fords and some Euros in there to mix things up and keep you Jap racers honest :(

So rally rego is OK for Street Car Class?

Cheers

Gary

The vehicle must have legal registration papers for the state it is registered in. Remembering though all vehicles in Clubsprint Class MUST have a Catalytic Conveter and a FULL interior.

I also have an RX2 Nc historic racer, will it be eligable for the street class?

Only if the car is registered and has a full interior.

Help me!!! is there a class that my car will qualify for?

Its from a major manufacturer (its a March), its mid mount, engine is stock.

Can I come? purty please? Oh bugger! I'm pretty sure my tyres are R compound

Unfortunately Open Wheelers are not allowed to enter.

haha yeah we all know what ferraris and lambos are used for don't we. Wonder if any ferrari or lambo owners will ahve the balls to take their car out for a few laps.

A bit of mix wouldn't hurt, hope some euro cars turn up.

I know of atleast one who would bring a Lambo. Gallardo for Open Class but at the moment he is bringing an Evo as I said no to the Lambo at first haha.

Are you sure the R35 GTRs in the Clubsprint class will have rego by the time the event rolls around?

And personally i wouldnt be too worried about Porsches dominating the event. I mean, they are more of a risk in the Open Class then the Clubsprint. My little GTSt is quicker then just about any 993 RSCS or 997 GT3s that i have been on the track with. And the Boxster S which in std form is a pretty good damn thing is not actually rear engined. So if you may want to tweak that rule to stop Boxster/Caymans with twin tubos setups from rocking up and giving a lot of cars some hurry up

Clubsprint Class must run on Tyres with a UTQG rating higher than 100.

So does that mean we carnt use the Kumho V70A's?

And we can use the Federal 595RS's as they have a 180AAA rating?

damn i built my car specifically for these kinds of events but i got a 30/25. I think this has actually worked against me. My car is 100% a daily driven street legal car but the engine puts me into the open class which is full of hardcore track vehicles. The fact i need to use my car as a daily driver and its completely financed by one 22 year old means i'll be completely out of place competing in the same category.

Mine is much the same mate, and is financed by a 23 year old :D I'll be entering open class. I'd have a zero chance of winning, but hey, it'll be fun!

Guys i spoke to nathan for a while yesterday, i mentioned to him the position the rules put cars like mine (and a few of you others) into. He said that there's most likely going to be another class opened up soon but not for this first event

So im going to this first event to help boost numbers, have a fun day out, thrash the car - and meet some of the other tough GTR owners from around the place

Next time we (RB30 crew) can have a good shot :D

Exactly the same here, 23 too. This year will just be having fun and getting experience, then when money isn't so hard to come by I'll field a much more competitive car!

Agreed!

Worst case we have our own 23 year old battle... SR22 vs RB25/30's :D

SR22 vs RB2530 vs RB2630

Lets have it anyway! $20 in the pot, winner (regardless of class) takes the whole pot

dam you all you young wipper snappers :P (26 'ere...)

    • The best setting for street is what gives the best tyres wear for your driving style Different tyres like different camber You want the whole surface of the tread to wear flat, if the inside of the tyre is wearing more than the outside reduce camber settings For toe, have the minimum amount to give the handling you want Caster, from my experience if you can adjust it, is as much as you can get without clearance issues And while -2.5° of camber on the front might work well with good tyres for "spirited" cornering, it may be too much for a street car Lots of front camber will effect braking Just like to much rear camber will effect rear traction (rwd), and braking  When I set my Bogan Cruise Ship (VX SS) up for drags I tested how much tyre width I actually had in the rear by doing a hard launch (skid), it originally had -1.5° in the rear, and you could see that the tyre wasn't putting down alot of the tread, I maxed out the settings to get as little camber as I could with the OEM adjustment and some camber bushings and got it down to just under -0.5° with 0 toe, that gave me a fair bit more "rubber on the road" and helped it hook up for my 60' and my 0-100kph And with -1.5° in the front the big old boat handles fine on the street and my tyre wear is nice and even on both front and rear tyres (currently Hankook RS4's) As for semi slicks at the track, again, it depends on alot more IRT the suspension, the track and lots of other things, so, I'll leave that up to people who have more experience, especially with a AWD In saying this, street settings are pretty easy, just look at the tyre wear Meh, Necro thread, it's late at night, and I has been drinking beer
    • Thought I'd give an update. There needs to be scarce details in some areas due to ongoing discussions. Here's the journey of trying to make the booked registration appointment (again). Sent a complaint to Car Inspect outlining the concerns and made some demands. Went to a service center in Geelong, got assaulted with bullshit items on the RWC, as you know. Tried to quote $2.5k AND wanted a structural report Only seemed to be one place around Geelong that does them, they demand $495 just to end up telling me it's f**ked, at least $11k to fix and tried to sell me his own Skyline in the process (bro, wtf?) Started stressing about what I'm supposed to do with this possible pile of steel. Awaiting that, I was sent an angel friend who works in Melbourne and knows real mechanics and body shops.  They laughed at the reported quotes (don't get work done in Geelong) Car underwent some front surgery and brought back better They then sent it to the mechanics for RWC Registration appointment is two days away at this point. Mechanics pointed out two issues: driver's seat and shocks - that's it. He offered couple options and I chose coilovers. Frantically I scoured the jungle realm that is Facebook Marketplace (again). Found what looks to be a decent Series 1 seat actually - $100 Guy is friendly, offers to bring the seat with a colleague who's heading to Geelong (thanks man, that was cool) Seat arrived, looks good. Throw it in my car and drive to Melbourne and drop it to mechanic T-1 day, mechanic reckons job will be done for the fronts only, gets it done by 4PM Mechanic heads to get the coil-overs that night as a favour to help me make the appointment Get driven to Melbourne, drove the car back - RWC Unlocked! ✅ VicRoads tomorrow, the goal is close now. 🙂
