Superlap Australia
Here are my entries: The Renault is fine I am guessing that it will need to be in Open Class tho. The corvair however is a rear engine'd flat 6 yes? phunky_monkey
phunky I am unaware as to why you have entered Open Class? Is your car stripped? or have carbon body panels? no cat? No cat, stripped, semi slicks Nathan It'd be easy to put the trim and cat back in, but I want to run on R comps. Steve: Sounds good! Superlap Australia
Ahhh ok I thoguht you had selected Open due to being 2.2L which would have been fine in Clubsprint Class Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/210939-superlap-timeattack-is-ago/page/8/#findComment-3734462 Share on other sites

I was just trying to make the point that when drafting regulations you have to be a bit carefull of unintended consequences. But doubtless you already know that. But we have designed the rules around Japanese cars not anything else as this is where our main aim for this event is- the japanese car scene as you will see by our sponsors. It would be unfair to expect people such as we have involved already to benefit from a field of porsches or the like. Boosted Zed
Far out what a huge thread already and so much interest is great. So much competition is great also. I think I will get a front diff in my car. Is that even aloud Superlap guru Nathan?? Might do that when I get my roof mount intercooler and sick chromies. Seriously though this is going to be huge and overdue. Mark my words it will quickly become the fastest growing form of motorsport in Australia if not the world. Just that the fuly sik brigade was largely ignorant of its existance. Thanks to a few magazines hype-mongering those happy days have now passed. This is from near on three years ago.... More power to the ppl running this, but these style events have been around for years before i even got a licence, only they were run by non profit car clubs where spectators got in for free. This event complements the existing Super Sprint and Club Sprints nicely, by hopefully uniting different cars from different clubs from different states. But its hardly new. Hell there are 60 yr old blokes out there with V8 MGs that wiull blow the doors off most of the cars entered Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/210939-superlap-timeattack-is-ago/page/8/#findComment-3734869 Share on other sites

This event complements the existing Super Sprint and Club Sprints nicely, by hopefully uniting different cars from different clubs from different states. But its hardly new, but it will introduce a whole lot of of mindless idiots who know nothing about motorsport other then what they have watched on a BMI Grip Video But thats cool, it means they will think my car is the quickest because its the loudest... Maybe they will one day learn (the fully sik brigade, that is) that the quick people are the ones who tend not to say much, nor explain much but who just go out on the circuit & hose everyone. On the upside it may demonstrate to a few people that talking a good lap & driving one are two different things. On the downside it will wear my teeth down because I grind them whenever I hear the words grip driving or time attack or hearing people saying stupid shit like "If you fit such and such you will improve by 2 seconds a lap" or whatever. Phaark me finding 2/10ths is a bloody good day. Anyway I hope this thing is a great success & flushes out some good cars from some good workshops. Not the bling graphics/leather interior chrommies stuff but the proper track tuned goodness that is usually hiding beneath a dust cover in a corner somewhere. Put in the same room we could be heard miles away with our mindless whinging and carry on It is good to see something like this get off the ground. I am ALL FOR making the sport bigger and better. My only reservation...and its only a small concern, but i just fear it may mean that at club sprint days you may no longer be able to leave mag wheels, tools, cameras laying around...as if interest is found in the wrong sort of circles then certain spectators may end up hurting the sport. or certain competitors not respecting that these events rely largely on ithe ntegirty of competitors...who if found doing the wrong thing could mean these events become even harder to run.
