i have a 1993 r32 gts-t and latley its been acting like a bitch  sometimes it will drive fine with out a problem then others times it will start jerking after 4000 rpm to about 5000 then it just revs really slowly after that and on long trips the jerking starts to get worse to the point that i cant go past 2000 rpm unless i let the car rest for a bit then off i go and i just seem to have no power it just dies i put the foot down and nothing.

i have changed spark plugs to a gapped .08, changed to splitfires coils changed afm and im about change fuel filter.

what else could it be or should i just take it to a shop and get it looked at and if so are their any good places in toowomba that can look at it, or just take it to brisbane to get looked at

cheers james

Prolly start at listing your mods, if anything coincides with the occurrence... umm etc?

The only mods are a 3inch turbo back exhuast and a hks pod filter

the zorst was put on after as i thouhgt the cat could have been blocked and the pod has been on for ages before the problem

the problem realy is when going up in rpm then it like a really bad miss casue teh car to jerk when i decel its fine then after about 30 min of highway drive just sitting on 100 if i come to a hill the car just dosnt want to acel up the hill. if i let it sit for a while its fine again for a little while. The plugs are gapped .08 and they would be about less than 500km old.

ill see how the car goes when i put the afm that i just soldered up back and see what happens.

What the h3ll is it with ppl avoiding taking their car to a mechanic?? I wonder just how many cars are kept off the road for months at a time cos of ppl scratching around on here trying to solve faulst which could be solved in a hours of a mechanic's time. Especially when ppl have a hard time describing faults on here... you could just SHOW it to a mechanic and say "THERE! THAT! What IS that?? Fix it pls!"

Probably shagged coils/plugs along with running too rich. Fix up your air fuel ratios, regap your plugs down to .8 (lower if needed) check your coilpacks for cracks. This is a very common problem, theres about 10 threads on it if you do a search.

Does the car idle correctly or hunt at idle? Why do u have plugs gapped to 0.8 yet have to boost mods?

0.8 gapping its only "needed" after 10psi from what ive been told?!

If its hunting at idle its coil packs, they will need to be replaced.

How much fuel do you use? this could help us determine if the car is running super rich and fouling the plugs?

If you AFM clean? If not search threads on how to clean it.. there is a sensor which lets the ecu know how much fuel vrs air to inject if its dirty or covered in oil then it will not work effectively and may be making the ecu hit a safety cut of some type, perhaps fuel or air cut.

If your running a boost controller over 10psi you could be hitting either.

Perhaps a visit to the mechanics is in order

with fuel econmy i was getting about 350km to a tank with a mix of highway and city driving but since the problem has started i havnt driven the car much just to and from work and around town. ill see what happens when i clean out the afm and put it back in. A new fuel pump cant hurt either i guess as the car is 14 years old. And should i go back to the 1.1 gapped plugs instead of the 0.8 as im just running the standard 10 psi boost. It does hunt at idle but the coils are brand new splitfires that have been in for under 300km old. would a o2 sensor be apart of the problem or no way. and since moving to millmerran i hanvt really heard anything that would make me trust my car at the local mechanics so any of the qld people out their no of a good workshop in toowomba that would be super.

    • For fuelling the Haltechs have O2WB fuel controllers. Very useful for helping tuning VE and correcting for *small* mistakes. Of course if your injector/cam/trigger/sensor data is just wrong (or for a GTT which is not a GT) then you will get impossible reactions to things. I am sure you know this already but the reason people don't typically put haltechs (or any Aftermarket ECU) on GT's is because there's practically no real gains to be had - So this knowledge won't be commonplace.
    • Can someone tell me if the cracks seen in the rear sway bar bushings in these photo's is unacceptable from a roadworthy point of view?
    • Shouldn't need a "base map" for anything other than guidance to ignition tuning. You just need the engine capacity right, the injector size right, and something, almost anything, for a VE map. On an NA engine, fuelling is almost completely a function of load signal & rpm. It should run and drive with a completely flat fuel map. It will be too lean under load, but that's easily fixed. We used to tune all ECUs without any base map. There were no such things (until someone had tuned a near stock engine on one, and then they had a "base map".
    • What did you actually buy/how much did it cost? When I got mine in like.. 2017...? 2019? the aim was to run Torque for gauges via ODB2 and things like Track Addict/Laptimers/Dashcam/Reversecam/Spotify etc. Mine never broke, but I wonder if you've got the same needs (it sounds like it). Cause I liked the idea of being able to do anything with it. That said, yours also cost 3x the cost of what I spent so... food for thought.
    • For me there is a massive difference in manufacturer or big brand crippled android (Sony, Kenwood etc) vs the sort of thing I've installed here, which is basically just a tablet in DIN form factor with open Android, and the other model of course is mirroring - Android Auto/Carplay. I hate the locked down manufacturer and AA options where they decide what apps I'm allowed to install, including the Launcher but also importantly things like Ecutek (for this car) or Real Dash (Stagea) are not supported. Plus those crippled versions tend to be slower due to both overheads and lower spec hardware. On the other hand, when this breaks I'll likely be in trouble for support....but how is that different to owning an Infiniti anyway
