so there is absolutely no chance that my front mount will pass the blue slip? even if everything else is standard...exhaust, air filter, bov (which is what i got done for)

anyone here passed a blue slip with a frount mount on?

Why couldnt you pass with a front mount with stock return pipes? Thats legal.. however it needs to retain the stock reo bar which most often than not needs to be trimmed to fit the FMIC..

If you have had to drill holes etc then your screwed, you wont pass unless you weld up the hold or I guess rivet a covser on (not sure if that will pass) and then stick a smic on.

Simply put as long as you haven't cut the hole in the structual part of the guard and the reo is in original condition it will pass. If you have cut into the structual part of the guard (under the seam weld I think) then you will be required to reinforce/strengthen before being passed. Engineers base their reports on these requirements. I have the exact ADR on my certificate but need to find it again!

the reo has not been modified, as for the structural part of the guard, i'll post photos in about 1 hour.... also can these defects get extensions? i doubt i can have everything ready (full time job and all plus technically i only got 11 days due to long weekend) , like i think id have to change the cat, front/dump pipe, exhaust, intercooler, bov and pod (the last 2 have been taken care of and the exhaust isnt a problem, cat and everything ive got the stock bits, except the front/dump pipe) my only big worry now is the intercooler and where holes have been drilled 1 hole comes out from the inner gaurd area infront of the wheel (is this the stock hole?) and the other hole is on the other side anyway i'll post photos soon

they have everyright to charge you for your plate being dirty. its more of a visibilty issue then the number plate actually being dirty.

its just like the posistion of your niumber palte can get you a fine cause its not compelte;y visible

ok the first photo is the passengers side area (near the wheel well) and the second one is on the drivers side, cuts in just underneath the water bottle

let me know if its legal or not, theres alot riding on this :S

hey guys im going to be doing most of the running around for this tomorrow, about the only other thing i need to know is whether my split front/dump pipe needs to be a stocker as well, so far these parts will be going on tomorrow (air box sorted, bov now standard, cat and cat back now standard as well) so pretty much back to stock except the front pipe and intercooler, hopefully my intercooler will be ok for it and maybe i can cover the split front pipe with exhaust wrap.... what do you reckon?

Its an opinion f**kstick.

Not necessary. Warning issued.

lol its been empty for 2 years hehehe (im just gonna take it out this sunday) save the hassels, i dont have a problem with the defects its just the dirty number plate fine really!

I believe being empty or not there is also a defect.

Yeah, an uninformed opinion that costs poeple money. f**k you too.

Not necessary. Warning issued.

Hi there

Sounds to me that youre saying that a "full inspection" is a bad thing ?!

If your car is second hand and has been owned by somebody else how do you know that prior to you buying it the previous owner did something to it that could potentially make it dangerous or unsafe ?

If youre satisified that this isnt the case and youve done everything yourself to ensure that its ok well youve got nothing to worry about.

Isnt having a defect free car thats safe for you to drive and safe for other motorists a good thing ?

I think so !

Cheers malcolm ;)

I disagree. I think the rules that are in place are far too harsh and unreasonable.

whre is the pIcture of this dirty plate :P

Yeah I am interested to see it too.

I doubt the split dump will be an issue.

Damn that sucks! Dirty Numberplate WTF!

I wonder if they ever pull the people over with their old yellow numberplates that have for example # "10."

Plenty of these I've seen so faded you cant even read them. Never mind the shitty old ones you see on 20+ year old cars you never see anything done about.

I got a $185 parker fine for parking within 10m from an intersection.

The council's got the 'No Stopping' Sign in every other directions except this corner

So I'll be taking it to court on the basis of inconsistent road signs.

I was done for "parking against the flow of traffic" in a maccas car-park - $80 fine, a few years ago, it arrived in the mail I never saw the cop or whoever issued the fine. I was only there for 5mins tops... I was in my dads car at the time, he was like WTF? So now everytime I see someone parked 'against the flow of traffic' ie the wrong way I hope that they get fined too

as for the dirty numberplate & defects, you're just gunna have to live with it, what shits me in NSW is that we have yearly rego checks n stuff and are still issued with defect notices, however in the other states, they have RWC (with sales and infringments only) and no yearly inspections. We pay thru the ass for rego and its obvious the $$ isnt being spent on our roads.

The old RTA issued yellow number plates where made with the first series of unleaded yellow (bright colours required high levels of lead) the exhaust fumes from cars over time faded the dodgy paint and this is why they are now rooted.

It is the RTA who is to blame for that, they should issue new ones when they found the fault.

I wouldn't do this either - ADRs state that you must have winscreen washers, so if they're not working you can be defected for that too...

The actual rego fees are not very much. It's the greenslip that is the killer and the calculations used to work out what we pay are kept secret from us. One thing is for sure - no greenslip money goes to, or was ever intended to go to, roads.

Whats the go with these stupid warnings? So what if I called someone a f**kstick. Did they complain to you? I don't care if he insults me back. Water off a ducks back as far as I am concerned.

Why would he have a pic anyway? If he is smart he would have cleaned the plate straight away (and then taken a pic saying this is how it was!)

A lot of people around here are sick of that kind of thing. You can call your mates that if they approve or you can use it anger elsewhere if you think it's appropriate but here we are sick of the rudeness.

i dont know about you guys but there is no way im posting my numberplate up here, so that every cop that surfs this website can memorise it? and pick on me? no thanks :)

Fair call mate.

    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
