ImPrOvIsE
suppose to be slightly better. Would have to drive the car for 100 years though to justify the exhaust mod costs. Miss*33
Mine got a few more k's per tank cos the new exhaust was less restrictive - but as ImPrOvIsE said, hardly enough for you to worry about saving any money or anything!!! hippy
i'm just worried about losing 100km per tank thats all .. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21661-changes-to-feul-economy-with-exhaust-modifications/#findComment-458812 Share on other sites
Maxx
i rekon u will lost 30k-50k per tank as u will push the acc. harder for the increase performance and sound after the exhaust mod, but it worth it Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21661-changes-to-feul-economy-with-exhaust-modifications/#findComment-458844 Share on other sites
king_kw13
I thought like hippy that I am losing fuel economy. (never had a stockie to compare with) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21661-changes-to-feul-economy-with-exhaust-modifications/#findComment-458884 Share on other sites
franks
you will be less fuel efficient. 1. the more power you make the more richer your ecu runs (assuming you have standard ecu) 2. you will love the sound and performance so much you wont be off your accelerator pedal. fuel efficiency comes down to 2 things. city/hwy driving and your right foot. hippy
yeah right now i find its weird cause my car is pretty stock and also an auto which makes its easy to drive since i do over 30k's a year .. i just like driving alot LOL .. but i can constantly be accelerating hard all the time but not notice much difference at all in the economy .. hope this doesn't change when i get the dump pipe ... EVOIV
Getting a dump pipe now Hiep? I heard that an exhaust improves fuel economy...but then again, I don't know why!? I've heard the same EVOIV - but it seems there are varying opinions now! I know mine has slightly better economy - hardly enough to notice really though..but its not any worse. king_kw13
franks - so how can we lower the rich-ness of the a/f mixture as a result of a standard ecu and aftermarket zorst? is the best solution something like a SAFC or e-manage? hippy
well after a bit of thinking .. u'd think that u won't get better economy cause u're making more power .. more power=more feul right?? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21661-changes-to-feul-economy-with-exhaust-modifications/#findComment-459479 Share on other sites
EVOIV
Yeah, more power = more fuel...but that's only because you want the AFR to be constant (optimum) and with more power, there is an increase in air flow...hence you need more fuel to keep the AFR at a good level. Batman specials??? What sized dump you going for? 3.0"? 3.5"? I think mine is now 3.0", but used to be 3.5" when I had the larger turbo on. Ahh heck! Why not go for the 4.5" Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21661-changes-to-feul-economy-with-exhaust-modifications/#findComment-459611 Share on other sites

franks
there is no myth to this guys. on a standard ecu, air/fuel ratio will run to about 10.5:1. this is because the power its making is beyond the fuel maps of the standard ecu. hence the ecu will throw all the fuel it can at the engine to try and keep it safe.
